Got my Go today. It's actually much smaller that I thought. Now I just need to find somewhere to put it and convince myself I don't need a second one :pac:

I just opened up my first Go and set it up, wow, its a lot better than the blooms anyways. i dont have an Iris but the light off these is a million times better than the bloom. i can see myself getting a few of these ones!

Yeah I've one already, I like it, the only thing is , it might be just me, but it it possible to have it on its side feet while charging? I don't think so . It's a pity as I'd like to wash a wall with one

It is, but it's a bit of a balancing act. You can rotate the plug going into the Go and between the cable and the feet get it balanced.
Can't remember if it's easier on plush carpet or on solid surfaces.

Interesting, what would its suitability be like as a bedside lamp. Awkward to turn on and off with the 10 second hold if not programmed?

Are the starter kits ever on sale. Missed the first generation starter kit sale over Christmas but would have preferred to get the newer bulbs with ambient white tones rather than just the dimable versions.

To be honest i didnt even know you could turn it on by touch!

It would be great as a bedside lamp, it throws a lot of light onto walls for ambiance, if its too bright for you it can be dimmed in the app. speaking from experience of the bloom this is way better. you can also unplug it and put it on a table if you are eating etc. its pretty cool.

Starter kits with the hubs do go on sale from time to time, ive had 3 hubs in my possession from buying starter kits since i got into hue, its cheaper to buy the starter kits for bulbs than buying the bulbs by themselves when they are on sale.

That's the way I have it on my bedside table - it's always plugged in and standing on the foot at about 60 degrees. tbh until I saw this I never even thought of having it lying down :D

I use mine as my bedside lamp but also have a Dot in the bedroom so use voice to turn it on and off.

I just am looking for one dimmer bulb either a Hue or something compatible for the landing. Whats the best deal for one?
Still debating as to buy the light strips any other compatibles ones that also work off Hub and Alexa?

Yeah it's a cool device. Two of my friends bought them after seeing mine. No hub, just the lamps adjusted at the base

Just need the dimmers go back in stock, then I can think about getting a Go.

But they have the power and the feet on the same side.

If you unplug it and have it working from batteries, the light stands up properly on the moulded side feet. The power lead is in the middle of these two feet and won't let the lamp stand probably on its side when plugged in

Ah ffs now I've been convinced to get a Go I don't need.

How could you NOT need a Go? Everyone needs one.

I've resisted the urge so far, she'd go mental if I put another hue light in the house!!

(Though I always blame her for starting it all off as she bought me the starter kit over 3 years ago now, I've just added about 40 additional bulbs to it)

Well actually how long does it last off battery? My main use for one would be to light a spot on the stairs where there's no plug for a light.

3 Hours i think it is ? i haven't tested it myself yet, personally i love it, it throws out great light. its better than the blooms for sure.

I gota say I'm not seeing the massive benefit of the Go,
    am I missing something?

  • Moderators, Computer Games Moderators Posts: 5,386 Mod ✭✭✭✭Optimus Prime

Compared to the 2 blooms i bought it throws out a lot more light. its also cheaper than a bloom too i think, well it is at the minute anyways. I love it but i guess like anything other people might not.

Using mine as a bed side lamp at the moment and love it. have a wake up routine for it also.

The one thing it has over other Hue products(apart from working on battery as well as mains) is it is a beautiful thing to look at it self when its on. The whole thing glows with whatever colour you have it set to. Its certainly something you dont want to(or at least need to) hide away.

Can you turn it on manually, or is it only through the app? How about if you drop something under the bed, or you're aware at 2am and want to quickly write something down at your desk...on paper?

It has a switch on the base

Is amazon cheapest place to get the Hue sensor? I have one already but need another one but its almost 40 quid from amazon.co.uk after conversion. In irish stores here seems to be €39.99 everywhere

    It's £29.99 on Amazon UK

Which works out at about €34.60.

Cheers for the reply but it's not £29.99 it goes up to £30.74 with irish vat rate so the conversion is from that figure. My last order cost me €35.90 (still a couple of euro cheaper than currys etc).

Basically i was wondering is there any cheaper places but it doesn't look like there is for such a specialised product so probably just order from amazon again.

From what distance should the sensor be able to detect motion? I've got one in my kitchen and it wont detect anything beyond 12ft which is pretty poor IMO.

Mine seems super sensitive stretch about 16 feet from where it's currently positioned.

You know you can turn up the sensitivity on the settings?

Yeah i have it set to the max but struggle to get anything past 12ft.

I've another one on the way so i can use that as a comparison i guess.

Mine is over the back porch door, pointing towards the hallway and it picks up motion when I come down the stairs, must be at least 20 feet away.

Just set up the end of my light strips under the kitchen units. Looks great with strong colours. Works great for normal under counter lighting.

Had ordered 2 x 1m extenders so only had to cut a foot off one of the extensions.
