Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Cat carrier for large cat recommendations

So, the Mori cat weighs in at about 18 pounds and is really much to big for the cat box we have.

I'm looking for something big enough for him, with a shoulder strap to help me with carrying him as he's a bit too heavy for carrying in one hand. I've read that a box should be big enough for the cat to stand and turn in but can't find anything of that size on zooplus or in shops... Anyone with big cat have any suggestions?

Edit: he's not overweight at all, very tall, very long and very broad built... But vet is happy he is a good weight for his frame!

I'm not sure where you're based, but I saw lots of them quite a long time ago in the pet shop section of 'The Co-op formerly known as Connacht Gold', now Aurivo's 'Homeland Plus', in Sligo - I'd say other larger branches would have them too. They had them in lots of sizes, from very small ones to those large enough for big dogs. They didn't have a shoulder strap but they did have the hooks for attaching one, and if you wanted to you could put casters on them too, they had been built that way.

Alternatively, you could try E-Bay, Amazon, or Advert.ie, or even a larger vet practice should have a catalogue that could be used to order them, the one in Claremorris did. This is the website of one of the manufacturers http://www.ferplast.com/int/dog-crates-carriers.html, and this is the website of another online business based in Wicklow I just found after a quick internet search http://www.pet-bliss.ie/acatalog/Cat_Carriers.html - MODS, hope it's ok to post.

One thing, though, if you intend to fly with the cat make sure that the carrier box is compliant with the airline's/IATA's regulations, or you might have problems. http://www.iata.org/whatwedo/cargo/live-animals/pets/Pages/index.aspx

    Hope this helps.
