    The torture continues :(

Slept, but as predicted, had unpleasant dreams lol. Beginning to think that this torture is part of an initiation process.

I've spent the last hour just hitting refresh on my email and the smart simple page. Its going to be a long day!!!

They've changed their timeframe message again:

Please note that system upgrades are currently in place from Sunday 26th June to Tuesday 28th June inclusive. Users are advised that some content will be blocked during this time.

By the end of this week (Friday, 1 July), all STEM applicants will be informed of whether or not their application has been selected for the next round of assessment, Round 2

Bad news for STEM people. They've changed the information on the main page now

Please be advised that the outcome of the Government of Ireland Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme 2016 will be communicated to applicants as follows:

The overall outcome of AHSS applications (Study of the Human Past; Cultures and Cultural Production; Individuals, Institutions, Markets, Values, Behaviour the Mind and Environment) will be communicated to applicants on Tuesday 28 June.
By the end of this week (Friday, 1 July), all STEM applicants will be informed of whether or not their application has been selected for the next round of assessment, Round 2.
The Round 2 (final) outcome for STEM applications will be communicated to applicants week commencing 18 July 2016.

They've also changed the message on the site for STEM applicants

"By the end of this week (Friday, 1 July), all STEM applicants will be informed of whether or not their application has been selected for the next round of assessment, Round 2."

No not an initiation process; a torturous process to ensure you wont be of sound mind to accept funding and will never reapply for funding!

I'm already one year into my PhD and I can tell you that life seems to be endless funding applications.....however none as bad as this.....

To be honest, I think they will be successful with the latter aim! Not sure I could do this to myself again lol.

Im guessing that your result will be with the stem group. Its probably bulk uploads and computerisation

Has anyone heard anything yet? I mean how long does it take to add "unsuccessful" to my profile???

I kind of expected it though given how it was early may when it was last modified

Where are the successful people! Too kind to tell us?!

    I am also 'unsuccessful' :(

  • Registered Users Posts: 12 Vin8

Mine got modified loads in late May and early June so I was feeling optimistic. Guess modification date didn't mean much. Suppose just have to wait for the feedback and see where I went wrong.

Perhaps, or possibly had better things to do than to come back on here!

Any STEMs have anything other than "Under Assessment"?

  • Registered Users Posts: 71 ✭✭Deeluu

I'm most frustrated to have spent all of that time on the application and to do worse than last year (last year I made reserve) with what I felt was a superior application.

The only upside is last year it took them like a month to finally tell me I was unsuccessful so at least now I know its done and dusted.

Thats two strikes for me now - there is reassurance in the knowledge that I will NEVER have to go through that again.

I got a conditional award. Really feeling a sense of survivor's guilt as this thread really began to feel like a little family. So sorry to hear that some of you guys didn't get it. I have no words.

Very very happy for you gcalvert91, I didn't make it! However, I am in good company

Nope, I just checked mine, and status is "Under Assessment" too. Aaarrrgh, this is literally driving me mad! I'm just dying to have some news, even if it is just for phase 1!!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 18 Phoenix

I got a conditional award too. I feel so bad for you guys who worked so hard and probably put in great applications, but weren't as lucky as me. I feel I was lucky because my work is in a sort of newish field IRC-wise.

Well done to you, enjoy the moment !

Just got an email from them. So, for us STEM people, we will either have "Under Assessment" or "unsuccessful" as our status. If it is still under assessment, we'll find out by Fri 1st July whether we've progressed to stage 2. Nerve wracking!

Edit, actually its not clear from the email whether we get final result on Friday, or if we just get phase progression status. I guess we have to wait and see!

  • Registered Users Posts: 71 ✭✭Deeluu

Congratulations to all who got accepted.

To those who haven't, it isn't the end of the world, and you shouldn't allow it to put paid to your postgraduate research. I've done a great year without an IRC (and plan to do three more now as well) - other opportunities, and even other funding will come your way. Those of you in NUI's will probably also have applied for their 'in house' scholarships, so best of luck with that!

To all the STEM applicants, hang in there, I don't envy your wait, but hopefully it will be worth it :)

Phoenix and gcalvert, were you guys AHSS? Major congrats!!

I'm under assessment also. I would assume that all eligible STEM applications are marked as under assessment.

  • Registered Users Posts: 17 GraceFace12

Congrats to all of you who got awards - I am so happy for you, I really am! I've been following the thread closely over the past month and it was comforting to go through the wait with the knowledge that you're not the only anxious applicant!

I didn't get the award either - but hey, we tried! Best of luck to all of you in your future endeavours - this is a minor setback, if even one at all. And to those of you still awaiting results - the very best of luck :)

Didn't get it unfortunately. Anyone know if you can see a breakdown of the marks?
