Am playing on superstar with the default ML players. In my experience the first season is a total right off. For the second season though your wage and transfer budget will increase a bit. I'm 2/3 of the way through my second season and I'm in second place in the Championship.

Start experimenting with different formations and dig into the detail on the "advanced settings". Also, it takes a while for your players to gel and to get the team spirit to a decent level. Once the team spirit is there it all starts to click into place. Sign Youth Team players and put them out on loan where they get played regularly. Stick with it!

Im playing at Top Player and am nearly finished my first season.

I am currently 2nd in the Championship.

I struggled more at the start.

I got a number of players in on loan such as Moussa Dembele, Ikenacho and Robinson from Everton.

Some of the defaults have turned into very tide players over the course of the season. Groiggeloini (Striker - SP?) was a youth team player I think, the AMF Castelliandrini (SP?) is a dead ball specialist and can pick a pass, Sahonne (LMF) is improving all the time, the right back Grioza is nearly an 80 rated player and Coutino (FW) is a decent squad player.

It definitely gets easier - the problem with the Championship OF is that you have a 24 game division and I can't see myself signing anyone class unless I get out of the division.

One day I think they should include an option that you start with whatever combination of players you want or - even better - a random selection of actual players.

Players I got who are doing the business (spelling might be bad)

First season:
H.Mlidov - CF - was a free transfer at the start of the first season
Burke - RWF(plays better RM) - really cheap from a german team (PES universe option file), is scotish
Belik - CB - Got him on loan from Arsenal, got him with an option to buy which i took up.
Lobato - SS - was a youth player Christmas of the first season, fast but really unfit. Also on huge wages
Fabhino - LWF (plays better LMF) - cheap brazillian, plays very well.
Austin - CF - got him on Loan, there is decent value in loan players. think he was a million for 12 months (maybe a bit more) which would barely cover his wages, never mind his transfer fee

Second season:
Berry - RB - Jamican, very fast, only rated 71 but he has been brilliant, has a huge number of assists.
Sorloth - CF - Norwegian or Danish, 194 height and has a header skill. He is joint top scorer in the league.

Really enjoying, its much different than last year. Dribbling was my main method of attacking last year, it really doesn't work as well this year, but players runs off the ball seem much better.

They also improved on the computers kick outs, most teams played in short in 2016 and you could time your runs with your strikers to be in around the player receiving the ball when he got it, worked maybe 20% of the time if they played it short, but I'm glad they seemed to have sorted that.

The addition of the two budgets is probably a good thing, as it really makes you fight for any penny saving you can as you approach the wage limit, and it also makes you consider do you really need this player, or if you get a decent offer for someone on big wages can it be distributed better elsewhere.

One thing that is annoying is that I normally just sleep the playstation in between games, in 2016 when you bring it back up you wouldn't be connected to PES servers, which is fine, and if you wanted to connect you just pressed triangle on the menu. in 2017 it automatically connects you, which takes about a minute or whatever.

I'm a couple of months into my 4th season now. I won the Championship in the second season and won the Premiership and FA cup in the third season. Sorloth continues to be a beast for me, got top scorer by 10 goals or something last season. I play 4-4-2 and use the overlap a lot. I really struggle against teams that break down my wing play.

I didn't add too much to the team that got me promoted, a couple of youth players and a fella called Cabot on the right wing. I also signed Bailly from Villeral for 6 million during the January window deadline day.(rated at 12m, i obviously messed up the patches or whatever that he doesn't play for Utd)

Downloaded the new update the other day, I'd read that it included a variety of new stud types on football boots? I don't get it? There doesn't appear to be any option to switch stud types when picking boots so where are these new stud types and what purpose do they serve?

Rest of the update seems fine though they seem to have put in faces for loads of players nobody outside of Asia is likely to have heard of which is odd considering how many high profile players aren't up to date.

Does anyone know if I delete my edit data before adding a new option file will it delete my created players as well?

I'd imagine it will as there's only one edit data file, and it just gets overwritten any time there's a change made to it.


What you could do though, is transfer them to a team, export that team to USB, and then go ahead with the deletion and re-import of the option file.

Then you can import the original team of your your created players though.

Of course though, that team that you pick will over write the same team that was imported during the option file import.

The massive variations of difficulty levels of teams drives me bonkers sometimes. Barely beating Norwich 1-0, but smashing Chelsea 6-0. Should be the other way around I feel.

Sorry, meant to say I'm on Top Player.

Superstar doesn't seem all that difficult, easier at times, so I dropped back down to top player.

Results are very odd all the same. It's not like the 'lesser teams' park the bus either, but high scoring games vs the better sides is very odd for me.

I find results are a bit like that as well, can beat a good team 3 or 4 nil and then struggle against relegation fodder. Don't know why it is but it hasn't put me off.

Anyone recommend a patch for national sides? I have the PES Universe one but there's no national kits.

Pesuniverse has the european national sides.

This lad has the African, Asian & American ones....only copy the international sides over to your wepes folder. His Bundesliga files are dodgy though

Finally got this sorted last night and updated the national teams. It no longer looks like everybody is playing in their pyjamas.

I'm playing an offline league as Leicester City (Top player setting)... I've managed to get to the CL final, but am just above relegation!

Oddly true to reality to some degree! :P

Really enjoying it. The majority of my games are low scoring and many draws, but it's still an immense game.

Hi all

Can anyone help,I loaded up PES 17 today for the first time in Afew weeks and when the disc loaded up popped some PES trial version (that looks like the demo where you can only play as 8 teams) followed by a screen saying I need an activation key to play the game.

Is this because of maintenance or something? I have the full game on disc since launch day but first time I've seen this. My my club coins are displaying but I can't play my clubs as it's not being displayed on this trial version.

Can anyone shed any light on the problem. I'm on Xbone by the way

Lads anyone got any Barca Legends? I'm having great success, got Riquelme, Luis Enrique and Barjuan.

Henry looks brilliant, but as a proud Irishman, if I get him in a spin, he will be converted to a trainer instantly :pac:

I got Larsson, Van Bronckhorst and Hagi. The 2 De Boers, Van Bronckhorst, Cocu and a few other legends look very poor stats wise. Hagi scored the winner for me from the bench in extra time in that online challenge cup. Haven't used larsson just yet

I take it you mean Van Bommel, he looks very nice as a DMF!

I understand what you mean about stats of legends, I think Hagi, Davids, Litmanen and Deco all need to be +3 from their base.

Riquelme has some great stats, until I looked at his Stamina, 55! I was excited to have him in my team, but now he will only be used as a sub late in match. Disappointing!

Nope, I mean van bronckhorst ha. He's down as a cmf in the game, 79 rated I think. Not great at all

Missed one just 2/3 hours ago... I've had about 3 so far in 16 games this season I'm currently playing. Maybe just about double figures in 2 and a half ML seasons.

Just fyi, don't let someone with less than '80' take penalties. A kitten would hit it harder.

Also, what difficulty are you playing on? I've found the AI make more aggressive (stupid) challenges on 'Top Player'.
