Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is Sky Sports standard definition on Virgin any good?

Thinking of adding Sky Sports to my Horizon Max but it's 50 euro for HD and 40 euro for SD.

Anyone have SD Sky Sports on Virgin? What's the picture and sound like? Is it decent enough or is there a big difference compared to the HD version?

I have Setanta atm on Virgin which I think is good. It comes with HD as part of the deal. But their losing the 3pm games next season so I'm not sure whether I'll keep it.

I mainly interested in the Premiership and the European rugby but Sky has more sports overall.

Go HD for Sports, the SD picture is brutal in comparison. It would be like VHS compared to DVD. The 3pm games are moving on the Sky Sports where they will be on an Irish version.

It also depends on your TV size. If it is bigger than 32" the difference is noticeable. I have Sky Sports in the Eir package and the absence of HD option is annoying (same with Movies). I would gladly pay 10€ more for that if I had the option.

The SD is as good as SD gets and is the same picture quality as on a sky box, to directly answer your question.

On a larger screen it's worth getting the HD IMHO.

I suppose I was hoping SD would be good enough and save a bit.

Might cancel Setanta for the summer and see what the fixture list is like in August.

    Sky SD is pretty good.
I have BT and Setanta in HD and if you go straight from one of those to Sky SD then you will notice the difference, but after a a few minutes it's fine.
Just the other day a friend commented on the good quality of my Sky SD picture.
That's my tuppence worth......it' your call.
