It’s a flat stage but are there any sprinters left ??.

Have they all gone home and even if they still exist will they have any team to pull back a break
    Nizzolo , Modolo, Hausler.Porsev,Trentin, Boem,Navardauskas,Sbaragli …………Kruijswijk ?

Ullissi ? - The red jersey is up for grabs

I am inclined to think a break might stay away …especially if big enough and with a few strong men

Kung, Knees , Hansen, Moser,Boaro, McCarthy

If Nizzolo has the desire to win the points classification then Trek-Segafredo should really come to the fore today and take control.

It's a great chance for him to win a stage of the Giro, which amazingly he hasn't done.

Edit: I've had a look at Nizzolo's record in the Giro. Wow, we talk about Sagan always coming up just short in races (hence the term 'Saganth') but Nizzolo has been soooo close on sooooo many occasions.

I hope he does win today! :)

38 km gone, and Daniel Oss (BMC), Eugert Zhupa (Wilier Triestina-Southeast) and Pavel Brutt (Tinkoff) have a lead of 5'36" to the peloton. Trek-Segafredo and Lampre (Sacha Modolo) will be very happy with this.

Lampre won't be as happy as Trek will be. Modolo has been slower than Nizz this Giro. With no one else left to beat him, this looks a gimme.

Ulissi sitting only 8 points back on Red, you'd have thought Lampre would have hoped for either a bigger break to take the TV points and possibly make it to the finish leaving Nizzolo needing Sunday's stage to secure the Points Jersey. Ulissi must be saving bacon for tomorrow's Pinerolo stage with its brutal double digit final climb 3kms from the finish.

with a betting slip of Ulissi at 80/1 to win Red, I am raging.

I guess Ulissi is relying on Modolo today.

    Any trivia about today's stage?

The race will pass through the town of Treviglio just 8km from the finish. The Bianchi factory is located there.

Even Rob Hatch is struggling to come up with facts.

Anyone fancy a fight over spelling?

Had a quick look at the in play odds, taken a punt at srabaglia @33/1. Nizzolo and modolo are not much better than evens

Six man break building a gap out front with 17.5k to go. 25 seconds and climbing.

Nizzolo is now 48 points ahead of Ulissi in the points classification.
However Nizzolo may not score anymore points until the final stage on Sunday though. The ball is back in Ulissi's court.

unfortunately the position of the TV intermediate points mean Nizzolo could feasibly stay in a break and take points on any of tomorrow's or saturday's stage

    game over for my bet

Didn't get to see the stage. I had kluge down as a hard man/domestique. Am I thinking of someone else?

Nope you're dead right. He powered away toward the end. Probably secured himself a job for next year.

Highlights of the stage today. What a monumental cock-up from the sprinters' teams :p

Pozzato's teammate did Kluge a big favour there, blocking the bunch on the turn.
