I think you just have to be more careful with hygiene etc caitriona, especially when out and about. Will be awful if they get the flu but if they do hopefully it will make them more hardy against further flu attacks (trying desperately to find some bright side!)

I have it easy when it comes to work, as I’m only 2-3 days a week and he’s minded in our home by his dad/grandparents/Aunty. Yet somehow I run late every morning and I only have myself to get out the door... hmmm....

Liam is doing lots of crawling and standing unaided - he can stand for around 15 seconds now. He loves walking along the furniture and trying to get up the stairs... I say a firm NO every time he goes to them, with the result that often he crawls over to them, looks at them and shakes his head No, then crawls away. Very funny!

What are everyone’s first birthday plans? Ours is next Friday, I can’t believe it! Hoping it’ll be dry and we can head to the zoo.

I'm the same but I'm lucky that I can do a flexible shift. Whatever time I start, I finish 8.5 hours later so I'm usually in between 8.30 and 8.45 to finish between 5 and 5.15. Only forgotten stuff 2 mornings but it's only a 2 minute drive from my house to my parents so easily solved.

We're mad into standing now. She will stand for ages holding on to our knees or the furniture but isn't making any attempts to move her feet yet. The crawling will probably come all of a sudden. She was on her hands and knees for weeks and then took off all of a sudden. I'm expecting walking to be the same!

Hope everyone is doing well.

My baba started creche after Christmas and getting two babies out in the morning as well as a teenager and ourselves has gone quite smoothly! Coming home in evenings is absolutely manic though with tired and cranky and clingy kids, dinner to make, bedtime routine etc. We are wrecked come 9.30!

My baba is so unbelievably busy. She doesn't stop during wake times and nothing keeps her attention for too long. She's absolutely mad for outside and is always patting her head looking for the hat which means she gets outside! Nothing to learn! She's walking with furniture and can stand unaided but still not the confidence to go by herself.

Its her first birthday on 26th. We've nothing organised but might take herself and her sister to softplay. I'm hoping to make the cake myself, but not sure if I'll have time. I haven't a clue what to get her though! She has absolutely everything! Seriously though where has that year gone!

Can't believe we're talking first birthdays already! Her's is the 8th of February. We have her cousin's 3rd birthday party the Saturday before and my parents are away for a wedding the Saturday after so we're just going to have a little teaparty on the day itself with cake and finger food.

Followed by her 12 month jabs a week later! Dreading these ones with her being so aware of everything now!

Haven't posted here in a while. My girl is 1 in 2 weeks..Greenttc she sounds exactly like your boy..just bum shuffling around, doesn't roll either. She is definitely starting to try pull herself up but her legs arnt following 😠She is way off standing/walking I think. Down to 2 bottles now first thing in morning and last thing at night. Just having great fun with her now, shes so socialable but has no patience whatsoever! Also doesnt bat an eyelid when I leave her...she will barely look back! I work part time week on/week off so its great. Child minder minds her and one other baby of the same age. Starting to think of baby no. 2!

I think we're heading the same way with bottles here. She seems to be finished having a mid morning half bottle cos she has her nap while out on her walk so doesn't need the bottle to send her off anymore. She went without her afternoon bottle today and didn't seem to miss it so gonna try her on a bigger bottle first thing tomorrow and see how she goes. She's drinking water during the day too so maybe just isn't thirsty or hungry enough anymore with real food and water filling her up.

We are still boobing away 4-5 times a day, plus once in the night too. He’s a wee milk monster!

Girls I don’t know what’s come over me, but I am SOOOO broody the last few weeks! Like uncontrollably so. It is not the time for another baby for us though. How do I make this stop?!

Only one way to make it stop 😜.

Such a strong urge though isn't it! I'm certain most days that I'm finished but I still get those broody feelings occasionally.

I’d love another too. But common sense and all tells me no!
New job is going fine. I’m up at 5:45 and back in house at 17:15. Three days a week. Babies seem to love the Childminder but are playing up a bit when I’m home. They are napping right now thank feck.

Hello all, I haven't been posting here in a while but still reading. I'm back to work on Friday and I'm dreading it if I'm honest. I actually like my job and work with great people so I've nothing to fear, I know. I've just really enjoyed this year so much. The first few weeks and months were hard but, honestly, since the summer she's been so easy to take care of and she's been so much fun.

I think one thing I'm anxious about is falling back in to bad habits - I was dreadful for taking work home and taking on too much. If I wasn't physically taking work home and doing stuff on the laptop in bed then I was definitely always mentally taking it home and thinking about work so much of the time. My priority now is 100% my little girl and family and I really don't want to fall back into those habits. That's up to me to do though.

My little girl managed about two weeks of sort of shuffling along on her stomach before she decided standing and walking along furniture / walls / people / anything she could get her hands on was a better way to get around. She's absolutely flying - there's been a lot of childproofing of the house in the last month or so.

Her first birthday isn't until mid February and I think it'll just be tea and cake with immediate family. I don't have the energy for a big party!

Ah it’ll be a big adjustment going back alright, but I’m sure it’ll do you good. Will she be going to a crèche?

I noticed a few changes in myself when I went back to work. The most noticeable change was how much less I cared about pleasing people and worrying about what they thought of me! I no longer felt bad about asking people to do things for me and delegating. I wasn’t expecting to see that change, but I guess your priorities change when you become a parent, and the importance of your work in your life greatly diminishes. Going forward, you’ll be wanting to maximise the amount of quality time you spend with your little lady outside of work, so you may find that you become much better at switching off?

Thanks Catriona, that's great to hear and I hope I end up with the same change of attitude. I've been able to change my working hours and work from home a few days a week so even though I'm going back full time, i'll still be back with my girl at 5 every day. I'd have a long commute otherwise and a very short evening with her.

My girl will be minded by my in laws - we're very lucky with that in that it won't be a big change for her. She already sees them every day, she's very familiar with their house. Creches can be wonderful too. Friends kids who go to creche LOOOOVE going and I sometimes worry my girl might miss out on the socialisation that you get with a creche. But her grandparents are very young and active, they have great plans to be bringing her to every toddler group and activity they can find so hopefully she'll get to mix lots in that way.

Having a hell of a week here :-( babs has a tummy bug. Has gone from having scuttery nappies to throwing up her bottle as soon as she finished it yesterday morning. This morning's bottle was thrown up 2 hours later as soon as I pulled in outside my parents house. Can't beat the smell of curdled milk in a car :-$
Thought she was better yesterday evening cos she ate her tea and had only been sick first thing. Just hope she's done with the puking, stinky nappies I can handle but puke is another story for me!

Ah smaoifs, it's awful seeing your baby sick isn't it, our wee man is sick too but just getting over it, his didn't involve too much puking though although he was bringing up most of his bottles but it was almost straight after drinking them so a little different (and a little less stinky than real puke!) we were lucky that my parents were minding him otherwise it would have meant us taking time off work, what would I do without my mum and dad!?

Hope your wee one gets well soon, nothing you can do but wait it out unfortunately

Ahhhh happy birthday tangobaba!! Awful that the milestone Is marred by sickness but at least ye are still marking it in some way!

We have a little "party" planned for our wee man but he doesn't know too many people yet so like you it will be a very quiet affair, just family coming to our house for some cake a few nibbles! We actually didn't end up getting him much for his birthday present, he literally has everything a one year old could want! Not too worried though, it's not like he is expecting presents!! Are we awful parents????

Can't believe it's a year, this time last year I was waiting for him to arrive, watching box sets and lounging around doing nothing, that is a stark contrast to the last year!!! But I wouldn't change even a tiny bit. I still look at him in awe and still can't believe that he is mine!! Isn't it the best feeling, hope it doesn't fade!!!

My baby boy is one!!!! Same birthday as tangobelles wee woman, so we had a party yesterday to celebrate. We went to airfield farm and it was really brilliant. He is very into, “what does the cow say?” etc at the moment and can do lots of animal noises, so he was very excited to see them in person.

We had both sides of the family back to the house after for nibbles and cake. And then me and the hubby and his aunties and uncles went to the pub and got merry!

It was a lovely day. A bit emotional at times too. I can’t stop thinking about how lucky we are and how much joy he has brought into our lives. We’ve been truly blessed.

So...... I have succeeded! Was worried it wouldn't happen but it has. Nobody knows yet but I have to tell someone so my anonymous Internet mammy buddies will be the first to know......... Baby number two is on the way!!!! Wuhoo!!!!!!! So very happy. (slightly scared now that it's real!!!)

Oh god catriona, you know all about the spd, am guessing it will rear its head again but am thinking I might preempt it this time and get physio done before it really gets me, hopefully that will work!!!

Yes, October baby, I am petrified something will go wrong, probably more than I was last year but fingers crossed everything goes smoothly!!!

If it’s any consolation at all, I’ve spoken to a few physios about it and they said that you can get it really bad on one pregnancy and be completely fine on the next. It’s more unpredictable than other pregnancy issues like sickness. So fingers crossed you’ll be grand!

Hope you mean it's actually great fun and not a euphemism for completely mental and somewhat difficult!!!

Caitriona hope the physios are right about the possibility of sod not returning, one pain (literally) that I could do without although I am more scared of possible nausea, didn't get that last time so wonder will I get away with that twice!!!!

Em, no comment! Only teasing. Of course it will be completely mental and somewhat difficult but it is brilliant. Just this morning I walked into sitting room to find my two year old trying to get her sister to hold her hand so that she could try get her to walk with her, it would melt your heart! Its nice to think they'll have each other to play with when they're a little older.

Oh god, the cuteness! Don't know why but I didn't think of it like that, was being selfish and wondering how we would cope looking after two, especially when I am on my own for mat leave but when you describe your two interacting with each other like that, well that would just melt your heart!! You have eased the nerves somewhat, thank you!
