Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Trap bar deadlift V standard

    I know there was a thread here recently but I can't find it.
    Anyway, is there much difference is either deadlift? Which is better? Does standard deadlift work the back more?

    They have different mechanics so which is 'better' depends on what you want from it. It spares the lower back more. You get less training for the posterior chain.

    Yea the lower back is my biggest issue.

    I find the olympic bar deadlifts a lot better in that they work you out a hell of a lot more than the other one. But yes you're probably safer in the trap bar if you're worried about lower back. They feel like different exercises really.

    To varying degrees.

    The posterior chain muscles to a much lesser degree.

    Not necessarily a lot more but with the trap bar, but the position allows for better leverage with trap bar. Also, if you're using the higher handles, you have a shorter ROM.

    Cheers, I was told to do Hex over Standard for rugby. I guess that explains why!
