Target the Rebel tour or not ?

So I tore my calf muscle last night. Doctor confirmed same and recommends rest and no sports for 3-4 weeks and even then its needs to be followed by physiotherapy to rehab the muscle. Advice, which is going to be followed to the letter.

So the Wicklow 200 is out and realistically so is the ROK this year. I’m gutted. I’m not looking for medical advice but I need something to look forward to. Has anyone been through the same and if so do I have an ass’s roar of being back on the bike and fit enough for the rebel tour at the end of the summer ?

sorry for your troubles GBH, while I havent torn my calf recently, I did some years ago while playing soccer, it took rest and treatment(hurt like a b***h) to get back, from memory it was 6-8 weeks before I got back to training and had to work hard to catch up.

    good luck.

An injury is always hard to take, especially in early summer with best events on the way, but if I was you I'd forget about Rebel Tour for now.

Get good medical advise/physio and figure why you got injured and fix the underlying cause whatever it is. It might just have been bad luck, but if not figure out why it happened.

When I'd was serious about GAA and cycled to, I had calf/achillies issues ( not sure why but a good physio will). Since I finished faction fighting I haven't had a bother.

As an aside the western lifestyle doesn't lend itself to good mobility/flexibility/strength again a topic for your physio.
