Posted on Smoking forum but may get more responses here.

Can anyone recommend a bar in Dublin city centre that would have a smoking area suitable for a large group of cigar smokers?

Toners has one of the largest "beer gardens" in the city so that might be a runner?

    Toners is very enclosed.

See where the ashtrays are, it would be illegal to smoke there.

I see illegal smoking going on in the majority of "beer gardens" in dublin city. The pubs do not appear to do anything, in fact encourage it by putting ashtrays in these areas. Most carefully would not explicity have "smoking area" signs up.

I cannot think of any place off hand where a large group of cigar smokers would be welcome. Maybe outside the barge pub if there is no enclosures. Many people, including smokers, find cigar smoke untolerable, before the smoking ban I remember people exiting bars when a single person lit up a cigar.

Have a look here. It is a cigar specialist shop with recommendations for cigar friendly smoking areas in pubs

Thanks for responses folks. McGrattan's bar looks good and I'm going to call in this week for lunch to see would it be suitable.

Get the previous point about cigar smoking. I've been tasked with organising a night out for a lot of senior managers in the company I work for who are over from the US soon and have been advised that most if not all will be cigar smoking while drinking.

The Morgan Hotel has a nice area and the occasional cigar smoker there without being looked down upon.

Thanks, quite like The Morgan from what I see.

Going to be a bit odd as I feel these guys will be oblivious to the fact that 10-15 middled aged men smoking large cigars all night isn't part of the bar culture over here and may irritate some.

The majority I see in dublin city are illegal though, as I was saying before, or at least its rare to find a pub where illegal smoking is not taking place. They are too enclosed to be within the law and so the smoke is very irritating as it cannot escape. I have been in "smoking areas" and still thought I was indoors and was wondering WTF people were doing.

Also many have now started calling "beer gardens" "smoking areas", as though only smokers would be in them, or have this "if you don't like it go indoors, this is the smoking area" attitude.

Many will show no consideration at all though, your "screw them" attitude would be quite common. I do smoke BTW. It sounds like the OP does give a damn and does not want to screw people over.

Lots of irritating and annoying things are still legal, doesn't mean its acceptable or that you should not be considerate. No laws against farting, belching or having strong BO, thankfully most respect others.
