Aslan 25th June - Thomond Plaza Marquee

The quality of gigs in Thomond Park seems to be following the decline of Munster Rugby. When we were battling out in Heineken Cup 1/4 and Semi Finals three years ago, Bruce was rocking Thomond. Now, when qualifying for Europe is a miracle, we get Aslan.

    Where is the Plaza marquee?

A big tent at the back of one of the stands I think

Would rather rip off my own arm than go to an Aslan gig tbh, but each to their own.

    Aslan? Really?

Elton John, Rod Stewart, Bruce Springsteen, Aslan.
It reminds me of Del Boys van, New York, Paris, Peckham.

I'm curious as why people are comparing this to one of the headline events that occurred. This is a small local gig which Thomond Park does regularly. Recently they had an event with a line up of trad bands at the Marquee.

    Some people are negative

They're a very good live band. Don't rail against it just because you don't like the music (or Christy Dignam)

    Where is the Plaza marquee?

About two years back, they removed some of the grass area near the Dugout Bar and put in tarmac. On match days they use it as a fan zone.

I assume that's the Plaza and a marquee will be erected for the concert.

    So who's going to this?

I got my tickets yesterday through Thomon ticket office, a bit cheaper this way as no booking fees.

I would be interested to hear how this event goes. What's the capacity of the marquee, does anyone know?

Passed it last night it looks tiny. Perhaps they'll add more sections. I suppose if you just like to hear their music/sings you could sit outside for free.

Small could be good, up close to the band, good sound etc.

I hope people support it so Limerick gets more events in the future.

Could we run something like the Cork Marquee there?

You'd need an area the size of the pitch for a marquee that would compare to Cork's setup. The fanzone outside wouldn't cut it.
