Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Doggy daycare for strong boisterous dogs

I was talking to someone in Dublin that is having trouble finding a suitable doggy daycare for her dog.
It's a very energetic Am Staff which while playful would obviously be a handful and I gather is too much for some places.
I don't know whereabouts she live but would anyone know of anywhere that's able to take in bigger stronger dogs?

Im not sure its the size or strength of the dog...its their energy levels. My friend used to own a doggy day care and she used to accept Staffs but every staff she has had has been a handful....one chewed a whole in the wall!!! I think after the 5th or 6th that she decided she would refuse them straight up. As you mentioned, its the boisterousness of them as opposed to the size/strength!

Hope your friend finds a place....otherwise I would suggest getting a dog walker to drop in during the day instead.

Same experience here with Staffs, along with Boxers, though I have found Boxers a little more unpredictable, while Staffs (bless 'em) can be obnoxious if they really wanna play with one particular dog lol.

My boisterous doggy got booted out of doggy day care for being too excitable and climbing out of the 6 foot kennel/crate repeatedly. We have to 'home school' him now :)

Some dogs just aren't suited to it. Dog walker/sitter might be your best bet. If they can bring him to a dog run or similar all the better. I let my dog off in the dog run and he plays chasing for 30 minutes, comatosed when he gets home

I own a 11 year old springer spaniel .He is probably Ireland's wildest dog. When he was 5 we put him in doggy day care. For the first week he was fine . One day I went to pick him up . The owner said she wouldn't take my dog back because somehow he got into the day care's supply of dog food and ate it all. I never put my dog into another doggy day care again. I hope your friend finds a place to mind her dog.
