I just hope it's a close tour! 2011 was the last close one when Evans won. Wiggins nibali and froome x2 won it comfortably.
It set up to be a cracker! Let's hope crashes don't send the big guns out of it

last years was closeish but it only got that way towards the end. if the skybots can be broken up and stopped from controlling everything the race could be far more interesting this year

Stages 5-7 are by far and away the most critical of the Tour IMO. If Froome decimates the field on stage 5 or 6, the way he had done in his first 2 Tour wins, it's game over. Quintana, Contador and Aru/Nibali need to burn their teams with attacks and attack early themselves to have any hope.

With the flat finish, stage 6 looks made for Aru.

Actually, looking at it again, its a ridiculous lineup. The train going up the mountain is gonna be kyrienka - poels - nieve - landa - thomas - henao, then froome

How the hell is anyone gonna ride away from that?

By attacking early and often. Expect an outrageous amount of attacks on descents.

Maybe movistar, tinkoff & astana can work together at times. Not necessarilly tne 3 leaders but a few riders from each team riding together to do some thing to sky. Doubt it,ll happen though.

Not surprised to see Roche absent.
I had expected he would be selected for Giro and Vuelta, particularly after his early season travails.
He has performed well in the Vuelta and later in the season.

Not bad really. Both are potential stage winners and I wouldn't bet against Dan for a top 5.

From the little Ive seen of him race this year Bennetts been let down by not having a lead out train so if he has 1 or 2 working for him in the last few hundred meters he could defo do a stage win. The GCN video mentioned Dan as a possible stage 2 winner coz of the run into the finish which would be great

    Agreed on Sam.

Stage 2 looks made for Valverde, Dan, Purito or even Van Avermaet.

The Hautacam stage was great to watch. However 1996 must have been one of the 'dirtiest' tours. Yellow, Polka-Dot, Green and White all dopers.

I posted the video of Riis attaching in the Yates thread. It was the moment I lost hope for cycling.

I only got into watching the tours and other big tours & classics in the last 5 years but have been made well aware over that time time of the 90s & the doping culture back then. The part they have out now is only the first part of a series but listening to it this morning and the ****e coming out of Ris in teh soundbites about the race, his weight & his determination to win was sickening.

Looks like Sagan got an extra man for support, in the form of Gatto, for the Tour.

    Tinkoff team:

    Contador
    Sagan
    Kreuziger
    Majka
    Kiserlovski
    Tossato
    Bodnar
    Valgren
    Gatto
