Is there any small buses going from Athlone town to Hudson Bay?
Or is the best option to take a taxi?

We don't have a bus service to Hodson Bay, but you're best bet is a taxi.

You could get the Viking boat which goes to the Hodson Bay. It leaves from near Athlone Castle/Sean's bar. Today there are departures at 11am, 12.30pm, 2pm, 3.30pm, 4.15pm and 5.30pm. The boat journey takes 45 minutes and it then returns from Hodson Bay. So if you get an earlier boat there you could return at 6.15pm. Check their website http://www.vikingtoursireland.ie/ to confirm times.
There may be other boats too but I've only ever been on the Viking one. The boat trip is nice, there's commentary and it'd probably be more interesting than a taxi :)

No sadly. Well, not that I'm aware of.
Is Hudson Bay not in Canada?

Is it not New York and South East Canada?
