Heading Sunday in the hope of a cast. Is there any point fishing from shore? Would I be better targeting pike or trout? I only catch and release so either or would be great. Thanks

Not many places you can fish from the shore on Ree with much success. .if I were you I'd head for the banks of the Shannon below athlone and target coarse fish....better chance of catching a few.

Failing that head for a stockie lake.
