Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

In the past 2 years I have watched the west wing, house of cards, the good wife, breaking bad, the black list. I now don't know what to watch next, I love crime thriller, courtroom drama, political dramas etc.

Do you have and recommendations? I have no interest in game of thrones or shows like that.

    Thank you

Lost is worth a watch if you havent seen it yet. Box sets for sale on HMV for about €50

You could give Borgen a try for a bit of political drama.

Also, The Wire and The Shield.

Gomorrah - fascinating show about the world of organized crime in Naples, topped off with family politics and violence. On Season 2 right now.

Narcos is brilliant! Have just finished Billions and season 2 of Bloodline so I'm looking for something new myself.

    Line of duty is brilliant

Don't let the fantasy elements of Game of Thrones put you off - I did for years and it was a mistake. It's essentially a political drama - imagine House of Cards with boobs and beheadings! The fantasy stuff is pretty minimal for the first couple of seasons as well.

Line of duty season one and two on Netflix and season three just finished on the bbc.

Season one line of duty is good

Line of duty season two is very good. Well worth watching

Longmire is great and worth a watch if you've not seen it yet.

Scandal. It is definitely in my top three favourite box sets (along with The West Wing and Breaking Bad).

  • Registered Users Posts: 182 ✭✭Beastermc

Thanks, I watched the first and second series of that.

Seems like you stopped at the right time so!

  • Registered Users Posts: 182 ✭✭Beastermc

I wouldn't exactly call it a series, but Black Mirror that was on Channel 4 was a good watch.

Borgen - A very strong political drama. Less flashy than the West Wing but it's better at showing the acts of compromise in politics because Denmark is more of a multi-party system rather than the US.

Bloodlines - Making my way through the second season. Strong, slow burning drama about a family been torn apart by secrets and the arrival of the black sheep of the family.

Billions - More soap-opera in tone, but made great by superb central performances.

I would not recommend Lost for you based on what you dislike.

The Catch, Castle if have not seen it is very good and so is The Mentalist. I would also recommend 11.22.63 just finished watching it this week myself found it to be very intriguing and very good. It is only 8 parts but still worth it.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Law and Order SVU. If you don't wanna go to the beginning start with season 13, big cast change up and the stories start to run through the entire seasons not just the one episode :)

    Disco!

I'd completely forgotten the show I wanted to get (I don't have d'internet at home). Pretty much expected it to be horsesh*t but apparently it's very entertaining

This show is sensational, I'm absolutely hooked.

Banshee is also well worth a watch in my opinion

The Bridge is another excellent show imo. As is The Killing but the former is the better of the two.

Oh yeah, I should have specified that. The Scandis do good tv

I've tried The Bridge but I keep falling off and never get back to it. Usually I'm wrecked when I get a chance to watch something so following subs is a pain. Must try them again.

It scores bonus points for my other half loving it despite subtitles

Christ how could I forget! The Killing, sensational first couple of seasons. The original is Danish (haven't seen it) but I've heard it to be even better. If your into the Criminal/Murder/mystery types this is a must see.

I saw the originals first, which makes a difference bit I definitely think the originals are hugely better.

The first episode of The Shield is a belter. One of the few shows where it's not just an empty promise

Homeland very good too. Also the Americans.

The shield is some of the finest TV I've ever seen. Completely hooks you in from episode 1. Also some tremendous guest stars in there. Glenn Close & Forest Whitaker being the 2 most memorable. Top recommendation!
