    have you contacted your bank ?There are certain destinations that are red-flagged by European banks and I believe Hong Kong is one of them. Might not be the problem but worth investigating,

    I'd get in touch with booking.com, you don't particularly want to make other arrangements then suddenly discover booking.com have found a way to charge your card.

    problem here is they say they can charge card any time after booking so you won't actually know until they try and debit the card - they may not even try and charge the card until check in
