Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Laryngeal Paralysis

Indy, my 12 year old husky has what I think is laryngeal paralysis. She has recently been diagnosed with hypothyroidism, and that has kind of taken precedence over the laryngeal paralysis, so the vet hasn't given a definite diagnosis. As she is 12, and has the thyroid issue - which is being managed well by medication, we are just tweaking the dosage - I'm not sure that I want her to go through the tie back surgery that seems to be the surgical option. Also, my vet doesn't do it, she would have to go to Belfast I think.

Does anybody have any experience with this condition, and managing it without surgery? Or had a dog go through the surgery?

No experience for you, but I know its sometimes seen in Huskeys - when we lived in USA, a friend with a dalmation had a permanent tracheostomy, her dog had Laryngeal Paralysis, Im not sure why the thacheostomy, rather than the surgery, but he was great afterwards... Hope your girl gets sorted - is this warm weather an issue for her?

Yeah, the warm weather isn't great for her, thankfully as I live in an old cottage with thick walls, its always cold inside, especially if I keep the curtains drawn.
