New Enrolment Policy for Bray School Project NS

The change in policy means that anyone that has previously applied for 2017 onwards need to reapply in October.

You'd hope the school would send out letters to people who have already applied.
People who expected a place for their child in Bray School Project for Junior Infants 2017 may be disappointed.

The board of management of the school voted in favour of a new enrolment policy at their AGM last Wednesday.

'This has been done in the best interests of the school and its community and best reflects the ethos of child-centredness and equality of access,' said the board in a statement. Interested parents and guardians of incoming Junior Infants from 2017 will need to apply online in October, regardless if they have already submitted a form.
Bray School Project NS is a single-stream school and the only non-faith based school in the Bray area. The school experiences high levels of over-subscription every year and therefore is not in a position to offer a place to all applicants.

A spokesman explained yesterday that there are over 250 applicants for a class of 30 places.
The new policy will introduce a preference for siblings and older children; the introduction of a new minimum age; the removal of first-come-first-served enrolment based on date of application; the introduction of an enrolment period in the October the year before starting.

All current waiting lists for entry in Junior Infants in 2017 or later will no longer operate and parents will need to re-apply in the relevant October enrolment period, entry for 2016 will be unaffected.

For every year in which there are children already pre-enrolled for Junior Infants, a reminder will be sent to relevant families about the new policy, and that they should apply during the appropriate October enrolment period.
