Document created in word 2007 not displaying properly on word 2013

Hi all

I created a document on word 2007 (work pc) and it wont display properly on word 2013 (home pc).
The problem is it will only display on sansserif on the word 2007, any other fonts just show squares or dots, etc.
On the word 2013 nothing will display no matter what font i use. Is there any way around this aside from recreating the document from scratch again in word 2013.

Tried that but still no joy.
What about saving in word 2007 as a different version ?

Try copy and paste the entire text in to Notepad, then copy the text in Notepad and paste it back in to Word 2013 the characters should show but all formatting will be lost.

Try LibreOffice. Sometimes it can handle MS files better than MS products. I used it to recover corrupted excel document.
