Truthfully and brutally, I've never played a game I both love and hate as much as MGSV. Gameplay is terrific, plot seems alright until you get to the latter part of the game expecting something and it just ends rather abruptly, with huge parts of the story left dangling. There's a whole load of missing content. It's worth it for the gameplay, but not the story. In fact, they went the opposite direction of the Kojima indulgence, and the story is quite thin on the ground, with some characters being mere effigies of their former selves.

You're a legend as always Links. I'll probably pick it up while it's cheap. I played a bit of the intro at a friend's house.

Moving house this weekend so need a game to amuse me while I wait for the Internet to kick in.

Payday today! Sweet! Splurged a bit but didn't go overboard. Plenty more titles I wanted but I had to weigh them up and pick the ones I would actually play.

    Stardew Valley
    Sonic the Hedgehog
    Tomb Raider 1
    Prison Architect
    TES: Morrowind
    TES: Oblivion

See you in a few months!

Ethan Carter, Ryse, Axiom Verge are pretty good value.

Its got full controller support for a 360 pad anyways so I imagine the Steam Controller will be fine

Now to decide whether to get Stardew Valley, Enter the Gungeon, The Escapists or Portal Knights

    And Portal is finished..

Really cool game, but glad I only spent €2 on it given it's lenght

But damn that's an addictive theme song at the end ---- I'm still alive

Been selling my cards the last few days and up to £2.50 now. Ill keep selling till Sunday and maybe pick up a cheap game. Im tempted by the Long Dark. Its only around a fiver now so might pick that up. After playing Firewatch I have an isolated wilderness itch that needs to be scratched.

I thought of the exact same comic when I read the Portal comment above.

No items purchased yet. That's more to do with my ridiculous backlog of games and limited time to play.

I was about to say something along the lines of what Links said, only far less eloquently :D

MGS5 has the best mechanics of any game I've played in the last 5 years. It's combat is meaty and visceral, but it's stealth is sublime and extremely rewarding. Some of it is totally daft (but strapping a balloon to a goat will never not be fun) and some of it very frustrating (
The airport in Africa where you've got to fight and kill 5 or 6 of those Skulls cnuts took me a LONG time to complete
), but overall I really enjoyed the game and especially the multiplayer.
Climbed up the nearest building in sheer terror and well its quite easy from up there.

Truthfully and brutally folks, is it actually worth playing as a game and story or will I just end up annoyed by a Hideo Kojima wánkfest

MGSV is 2nd to Witcher 3 for best game of last year, brilliant game everything about the gaming part is brilliant. Minor annoyance having to complete repeatable side quests to advance the main missions. But from stealth to action its a brilliant game.

There may or may not be a plot, I am not really sure and felt if I asked about it I would be mocked. But not really sure what is going on, i doubt anyone really knows what is going on in that game.

It'll arrive into your nearest An Post depot sometime Friday. If you're not reeally miffed either way, you may get it late Friday, or possibly Saturday.

If you're really looking forward to it, you'll get a slip saying that they missed you on Monday or Tuesday.

Buying "Mark of the Ninja: Special Edition" - it reminds me of Flashback, for some reason?

It takes them 24 hours to get a parcel from UK to Ireland, and then they don't even ship on Saturdays so item won't be here till Monday... Why on earth did Valve decide to use GLS as their European postal service, they really are dreadful !

Only reason I purchased off Steam was because I could use Steam Wallet so just sold loadsa items to purchase it, although I was raging when I was hit with the €13.30 postage out of nowhere for a poor service delivery at that...

I'm really regretting sending my computer to be repaired. How long can it take I asked, think of all the effort I would save from not attempting to fix it myself. Turns out a ****ing long time and I can't play anything I buy in the steam sale until I get it back.

Saints Row 4 and Arkham Origins look fun anyway :(

So, managed to trade for two more goodies from my wishlist, Momodora: Reverie Under Moonlight, and Convoy. Bringing the grand total up to 14 items from this sale! 15, if we include the Hexen/Heretic bundle for my girlfriend. Doesn't look like I'll be able to trade for SOMA, so might leave that until next sale. But regardless, I am damn pleased with my haul this time around, probably the most I've gotten in a single sale since 2013. My backlog says "OW!" but what the hell? :pac:

I'm seriously considering Civ Beyond Earth. The only thing is i recently got Alpha Centauri during the GOG sale. Are they essentially the same thing or is there enough difference to justify both?

Bought my first game of the sale - SteamWorld Dig. Have already played an hour or so, lovely little game :) Will probably buy just one or two cheap ones before the end, in the €2-€5 range, but not sure what to go for.

Been eyeballing Dig for a while, might grab it before the end myself. Want any recommendations for your price range?

I got a game called The Bug Butcher last night. Hand drawn art + pang + bullet hell + good sense of humour + change from €4 made it an easy purchase. Good challenge too, especially if going for high scores. Loads of videos on YouTube, but here is a trailer.

Civ:BE is just Civ 5 with a different filter on. If you having Rising Tide it's probably actually an improvement; but I never bought the expansion because I paid full price for the base game and just got burned with how bad it was.

SMAC on the other hand is an absolute classic, it's everything Beyond Earth wanted to and failed to be.

As is increasingly the case, not a whole lot for me this year. Two recent games I'd been meaning to pick up at decent discounts - DOOM and Oxenfree - was about it.

I did finally remember to pick up Mini Metro, which I completely forgot to get when it was in a Humble Bundle a while back. Having played 90 minutes or so, I feel very confident in saying it is a goddamn masterpiece of minimalism, and playing it makes me feel both really relaxed and incredibly anxious at the same time.

if you want a cheap way of getting cards

http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/833/ To be or not to be-that is the question:

http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/473/ To sleep, perchance to dream. Aye, there's the rub,
http://store.steampowered.com/bundle/395/ For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,

I vaguely remember reading about a great modern graphics mod for Thief 1 a few years ago. Or was it a complete fan made tribute... Not sure. Either way might look into that now, always wanted to revisit the original but not with 1998 graphics.

Considering getting Civilization 5, Life is Strange (either episode 1 or the whole lot, not sure yet) and 7 days to die. Anyone think it's a bad idea? I'm hoping Civ is a more relaxed version of Medieval Total War 2. Generally hoping for relaxed rather than difficult gaming at the moment? I understand 7DtD isn't relaxed

Civ 5 is great, get the thing that includes all the DLC and whatnot. It's a chill game that is great for playing while binge watching TV series or listening to podcasts or whatever.

I know i go on about it, but get all of Life is Strange. Amazing game.

Didn't really get on with 7DtD myself. It's very early access.

    Silent Hunter® III
    The Banner Saga
    Insurgency
    Gauntlet
    Black Mesa
    Endless Legend™ - Classic Edition
    SimplePlanes
    XCOM 2

My haul this season. I've played away on Black Mesa & Silent Hunter - both very enjoyable. On downer was XCOM 2 which is buggy as anything and trying to resolve with publisher support.

It's kinda funny, SOMA was the main one I wanted, but didn't get it yet. That, and the Life is Strange season pass. Managed to trade for a heck of a lot of stuff though, so that's amazing, but doesn't look too much like I'll be able to make any more trades before the sale's up.
