So that would have gone to print before the current round of interviews?

Initial comment made it seem like the delay was down to lack of suitable candidates.

I doubt it's anything to do with lack of suitable candidates at all! I think it's just that the initial projections of a handover in Q4 of 2016 were probably a little bit ambitious. It would seem that most PAS and/or Dept of Justice campaigns tend to take longer than first stated. Anyone else hopeful of interview results this week?

Wasn't the start of Q4 in relation to completing the recruitment? I asked about training at the end of my interview and they told me it would last several weeks, from classroom to on the job training. I've glanced at the training for ICO in the UK and it lasts 2 months so it could be similar here? I hope we get word on the result of interviews soon enough to be put out of my misery either way!

Yeah I probably picked it up wrong and they meant that people dropping out due to the delay would give those outside the top 200 a chance to be called for interview.

If the 8 weeks training is correct, added to the remaining 4-6 weeks for Garda clearance you would be looking at early to mid December for initial recruits.

On the results, I thought it would be similar to the CO competition and people would hear back within a week to ten days. Then I thought they delayed it til after the PASO interviews to avoid massive drop outs. Guy I know who did them is convinced he failed this one, but confident about the PASO interview so just wants to know for definite.

I was told eight weeks training.
Also re the Garda vetting; was also told that pending that, anyone starting would only have "escort" access in the airport.

Got my result and I passed but retain my position as per stage 1. There calling forward, candidates 1-49 to the next stage.

Sounds like I am either out or in for a long wait, as I am around 120.

If it was a case of me been in 1-49 I would literally of handed in my notice and take a few weeks off before any action.

Hope everyone gets what there looking for and best of luck going forward to all.

Just passed the interview and I'm in the 90s does that mean I'm on a panel?

    I got this in my message;
"You will retain the order of merit place from Stage 1 supervised tests. Candidates placed at 1 to 39 on the order of merit are now under consideration subject to clearance."

I was mid-twenties, so does that mean I'm in? Or is the "under consideration" part mean maybe not?

You'd be under consideration for the position. Congratulations!

Don't forget to take into consideration people who failed the interview or failed to show up to the interview.

It's a way of saying your in, but you can be removed if anything comes up on any upcoming checks on medical and or Garda clearance. But your pretty much in the door.

Do we have to do a physical medical?

No. The health and character declaration form that we filled out is sufficient for clerical officer level as far as I am aware anyway and there was no mention of a medical or physical in any of the familiarisation material either. Just the vetting/clearance to be waited out now and ready to go. Congrats to all who've made it this far.

Does anyone know if there are going to be more than 39 positions. I thought there were meant to be 70 positions.

Might be doing a batch at a time. 49/49, then I can see another comp starting if needing more people, I am around 120 so basically considering myself out to be honest. Think I shall leave it there, best of luck to all in the new role.

At 120 could make the next batch of people they may call. So let's say 119 placed higher than you but not all might have gone for the interview so knock a few off. Then out of the rest not everyone passed the interview or will pass the garda vetting or might have a medical condition that deems them ineligible. So that number could even be halved if we say every second person passed the interview. This is just my estimate because I'm trying to stay positive lol. I'm in the 140's myself :-D

You would imagine no one will fail garda vetting as all candidates know it is a requirement. If there is a history there why apply?

Who knows. I'm just throwing out reasons why there might not be as many people ahead of you as you might think. Im just hoping they might call more people down the line. How did you place yourself?

I would say that a very significant number did not turn up for the interview and I would say a good few did not pass the interview. I would say that if you have been told you passed then your "real number" in terms of a panel is actually higher than the number you had after the exams. You would be surprised as well but a good few will still turn a job offer. I think it's too early to really know what is happening.

90% of this thread is people speculating. How about waiting a week to see what happens instead of making up scenarios?

Does anybody know what the next step is in the process, how do they let people know if they are under consideration?

Yeh I thought they might have updated the order of merit to reflect any changes but then again maybe they are in the middle of doing it and I'm just impatient 😉

They should update the order of merit once the 39 positions have been filled and the remaining candidates will be placed on a panel.

If anyone under consideration or who's got an offer wouldn't mind posting their approx merit position, so the rest of us could figure out how far down the list they are it would be much appreciated.

Anyone over position 39 been placed under consideration?

I was mid-twenties on the list and my message said, "Candidates placed 1-39 on the order of merit are now under consideration, subject to clearance"
