Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

They are no more though aren't they?

    There's one at this match.

It was playing 2 Un-f*cking-limited a few mins ago.

Joe Allen is such a lovely footballer. I've seriously underestimated him at Liverpool for so long. I really wish he was staying.

As Joe Brolly called their gaa counterparts aka umpires last sunday...chocolate teapots :D

The soccer ones are no different. Utterly useless

I've seen GAA umpires make plenty of important contributions over the years, I accept that some of them are useless though. But they don't hold a candle to the total incompetence with the lads holding their magic wands in soccer.

the 5th official gave the penalty last night to Romania I thought...

That is what it is meant to be in the ground but it seems they have the broadcast stream with replays

I say fair play to them showing the replays. 98% of fans can handle themsleves and want to see the replay good or bad. why give into the 1 or 2% of numbskulls who shouldn't be in the ground if they want to start a riot over a ref decision.

On first look it was a pen, but I can see why he might not have given it even if he was standing there. plus, the Welsh player wasn't gonna get to it - which doesn't make it right decision, but it was hardly a totally nailed on penalty

Bale doesn't look bothered. Is he carrying any knocks? Just isn't really running much...

Bale plays like that all the time for Madrid. When he gets space he will be explosive. Has also more skills up his locker this year. Needs that in a very technical Spanish league

Weiss has been excellent. Slovakia been very good bar ten minutes either side of the goal.

Skrtel is an idiot. Every game he plays, he defends like he actually wants to give away a penalty.

Ramsey's worked hard for the cause.

Like to see Bale running more at the Slovak defence. He is often wasted in the centre. Especially in a welsh team with very little other intensive attackers to accomodate him there.

    The elbow in question.

Dumb ref making a balls of the gif as well as the decision. That's a straight red card if ever I saw one.

Ramsey's worked hard for the cause.

Apparently you cant say that because he has made a fool of himself with the bottle of chemicals. He is not anywhere near his potential but still works hard although I anticipate whatever he does he will always be judged on the fact he peaked all those seasons ago!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

Slovakia have been dire. Skrtel should have walked. The most obvious penalty and red card I have seen missed by the officials in a match in a long time.

Working hard but himself and bale(apart from the goal) have been sloppy, allan looking very good, whilst gunter needs to improve the final ball.

Yeah, whoever came up with this concept, however silly and strange it appeared at the time, deserves a huge pat on the back. Almost every team in the groups stage have a decent opportunity to progress.

They spent less than 2 minutes speaking about Albania and Switzerland prior to their game because none of the panel knew anything about either side and clearly hadn't bothered to do any research. The 40 minutes pre-match was spent talking about Wales and England.

Damien Duff: I'm gonna come back in the after-life as one of these goal line officials. They get to travel the world, see games up close and personal and do absolutely nothing.

It wasn't missed by the officials the idiot at the side of the goal saw it, he was 2 yards away.

Have to say, really enjoying Duffer so far in the Euros. Nice and honest.

Enjoying Duff's analysis. Talks common sense and doesn't mince his words.

Only saw Skrtel elbow properly there. What an absolute cnut. Love to see him, Pepe, Marcello and Diego Costa in a fight to the death royal rumble. Throw in Terry and Cole for a bit of English representation............

Slovakian keeper's kicking technique is awful.

Yeah, he mixes in some humour as well and is very relaxed and has no agenda or playing to the camera.
A bit too relaxed would be his only flaw in the role and often neutral on issues. (ie too sound!!)
Cant see him getting drawn into any serious heated debate
