    Hello All,

Just wondering what's the story if you wake up in the morning and it's raining outside. Is it breaking any rules to move your name to the afternoon so you can play in better weather?

Not breaking any actual golf rule but I imagine it would be considered poor form and bad etiquette to both the club and your playing partners.

Obviously there are circumstances that arise unexpectedly that may necessitate changing your tee-time but bad weather shouldn't be one of them at such short notice

That's perfect, thank you. The person that did it, ended up winning a prize in the competition

No rule broken but it is very poor etiquette, you could/should highlight this to your committee and insist they bring a local rule stating no time sheet changes allowed with 24 hours of competition start, except in exceptional circumstances e.g Close family member death, and also state that weather is not an acceptable grounds for changing tee times.

We have had that issue s few times and we are just about to bring in a change to the competition rules to combat it.

No rule broke who cares, you get out once a week why play in the rain

Because it's bad form, and if everyone did it, you'd be left playing on your own, other than that it's not a problem.

Personally I think it's very poor form and goes against the spirit of how the game should be played.

Its a local rule in our club, can't change tee time after midnight Thursday. Learned the hard way as had to go into work last minute one Saturday so changed from morning to afternoon. Went on and won the comp in wore weather and got dq'd. Score still stood for h/c

Have to say that's absolutely ridiculous!
Genuine problem you had and you get a cut but not good enough to win your prize. That's shocking.

Seems a bit harsh. Our new rule will state that if you have to cancel and rebook later it must be done within 30 mins of your tee time and that you make every effort to make your playing partners aware.

If it is for a legit reason it is fine, weather is not a legit reason, if it is abused the committee can sanction with a 1 competition ban

No rule broken but some people like to pay early for personal, domestic or work reasons. I like playing early - if someone grabbed my preferred slot then cancelled because of a bit of rain I'd be annoyed. It's pretty poor form.

Lads, is there any issue using a phone app as a GPS device in competition?

    Lots of issues.....

.....but generally if it's used only for distance info it should be ok. You need to check the local rules.

Close family member and you're only going to move your tee time back a few slots. Is it check to make sure they are dead on your way to the course. You mustn't like your family that much

It's not as if the funeral would be that afternoon.

A man and a friend are playing golf one day at their local golf course. One of the guys is about to chip onto the green when he sees a long funeral procession on the road next to the course. He stops in mid-swing, takes off his golf cap, closes his eyes, and bows down in prayer.

His friend says: “Wow, that is the most thoughtful and touching thing I have ever seen. You truly are a kind man.”

The man then replies: “Yeah, well we were married 35 years.”
