Shame, I wanted England to win.
    You're not the only one.

It's going to be a rough night down at the old port of Marseille.

I am secretly happy because the pundits i.e. Michael Owen always bestow failure on all the other teams from the Isles so...

    Why didn't they?

They scored a goal, same as England.

The commentators saying they were so impressive, were they watching a different game

A proper manager would have went for it and killed off a very poor Russian side. Bale will do some damage to that England defence next game.

What was he thinking taking Rooney off? How did lollana or sterling stay on the field?

Hodgson under pressure now, English got what they deserved.

Way too negative. Brings 5 strikers and plays 1, where is the logic? Kane was awful

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭JaMarcusHustle

Russian fans charged the English fans as soon as the whistle went. Clearly an organised attack.

Vardy for Kane most obvious substitution of all time and Hodgson didn't do it. Same old scared England. Delighted for Hart, what a truly unlikeable person.

Harsh enough to blame Hart for that. Some header.

Vardy and Sturridge need to start the next day. England's problem has always been they've lacked the venom. Passing the ball around looking great is fine but there is no substance.

Hodgson is clueless. That not even close to the best team possible to play, and it's against their toughest opponent in the group.

They will probably win the game but still awful choices.

    They couldn't even win.

Should be playing starting a midfield with Dier, Alli, Rooney, Wilshere and have Vardy & Kane up ahead.

I don't think rooney going off affected the game that much. Russia were always going to get one chance

Well that sets up Thursdays game in a big way! The Welsh could be sending them home, now there's a major incentive for them ;)

considering 16 of the 24 go through to the knockout stage i doubt it!
thats 4 of the 6, 3rd place teams

England played well in fairness. They will still qualify easily. I wouldn't be too worried if I was an England fan

Gosh England are pretty poor. Their best man Vardy on the bench. They don't have one star man on that team.

Hodgson has to take some blame with the negative sub tactics. Why not go and try and score a 2nd by bringing Vardy on.

Sterling and Lallana starting and then they bring that Wilshere fella on. What has he to offer only a bad attitude and being injury prone.

Rooney could do well in that midfield role but he would need the likes of Vardy to play passes into. Kane was very ordinary tonight. Not enough workrate or movement.

This game also proves that bringing 5 strikers was simply a move to placate the masses who he felt were begging for him to bring Rashford.

If you're not going to bring on him, Sturridge or Vardy, then why the fúck did you bring them all?

I fear there is going to be war in Marseille tonight between the fans

Hodgson deserves every bit of that.

Vardy not coming on to exploit that space was criminal. Milner for Sterling to take off what pace they had was cowardly.

Rooney off when he was probably the best attacking player, even from deeper, was odd.

Kane and Alli stinking the place out while you've the aformentioned Vardy and Sturridge on the bench was ridiculous.

It was cruel, but Hodgson rolled the dice by making the strange decisions he did.
    Summed up perfectly.

Oh of course. I went to the England vs Estonia qualifying game last year and I have never experienced a more disgusting group of savages as the English "fans". It really is a minority that gives the majority a bad name. Pity because most English football fans are good craic.

They couldn't hold on against a real awful Russian team. Poor stuff from them. Wales will be right up for it. Bale will give them nightmares.

Wouldn't listen to the pundits on ITV myself. I suppose if a foreign manager had made a balls up of it like that they'd be all over him like a rash but not uncle Roy.

I think the Welsh will beat them. They should beat Slovakia but they should have beaten Russia tonight.

To be honest I'm not sure England have the cohesiveness to handle the pressure if they get to the final game needing a good win.

Remember when we scored against the Italians at home? They played their way up the pitch and equalised/won. England revert to the long ball into towards the box.

It's a tongue in cheek comment. Clive Tyldsley on ITV after Dier scored said, "Justice for the England 11" for some odd reason.

    Really?

England pushed in the first half but completely failed to capitalise which is the what separates a good side from an OK side.

They should have been hammering them but couldn't put the ball in the net.

Also can someone tell me how is Sturidge playing in that team or any team for that matter?

    He's the new Walcott.

Run, run, run, run, run but can't cross or shoot.

    He's a sprinter not a footballer.

Kane was poor. Shouldn't have been set pieces.

And as for the managerial choices and substitutions. Hard to put words on what ever that was.
