Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The Velodrome is such a cool stadium.

Promising so far and so many options on the bench.
If they get off to a good start, they'll really fancy themselves.... More than usual!

Expected the Russians to sit back and try to get something on the break or from a set piece. A point would be a decent return from this game for them, given that it's the first. Kane on corner's again; #odd.

They should have just given Pochetino a nice little summer job and put him in charge.

    Walker has started well.
Decent attacking full back, hopeless defender.

England knocking the ball around confidently but they dont seem to have any serious plan about getting the ball between the sticks.

All you hear in the build up is Kane and Vardy, the friendlies are based on Kane and Vardy

and then he picks Lallana and Sterling and Rooney.
He's an absolute clown of a manager. Even as a Liverpool fan, I don't think Lallana should start.

Thanks for telling us how many goals Harry Kane has this season three fücking times in one minute. Trevor Welsh and TV3 I truly despise you.

Anybody want to acknowledge that Rooney is running things for England so far, no?

Sorry, I'm afraid that doesn't suit the narrative.

    Please calm down, Keith Andrews.

He got some commentating advice from Ronnie Whelan: "Even when there's nothing happening, ROAR in to the microphone. If something DOES happen, just ROAR LOUDER!"

Same here; absolutely horrendous. If it wasn't on ITV, I'd mute the telly and stick radio5 live on in the background.

If it's any consolation, TV3's HD channel is also in SD.

its the sort of gameplan that may not suit Vardy and get best out of him. He is best when playing off the shoulder off a defender but still more than capable in other situations but I feel he would be a tad static and his pace underused in this English team tactics. They will no doubt alter this in second half to accomodate a more direct approach with Vardy in second half.

    He isn't yet.

I've noticed a few times that the centre halves have struggled with distribution because no Eng midfielder makes thselves available for the pass.

His own passing is good though.

Another poor finish from Lallana, good build up play though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭Drexel

Surely England have a better winger than lalana.

    He is no good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,930 ✭✭✭PeterTheEighth

His own passing is good though.

He got away with giving away one bad ball just inside his own half. The sort of thing the guys were talking about before the game. He did hit a few nice "Glenn Hoddle" passes though.

    England getting closer.

Russia are nuts for getting sucked high up the pitch..... Superb last ditch interception preventing Sterling though.

Two yellows and you're off tonight. I think if Russia score first and England fail to reply that we could possibly see a victory for Russia.
