Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Lovely ball from Rooney
    Having a good game

Not really, he's played a couple of good passes but both times he had acres of space and time. He's made mistakes too.

This has prob been the worst game of the tournament so far. Needs a Russian goal to liven things up

If not, Russia are the worst of the 8 teams we've seen so far.

    Albania are better.

Itv1 London has it live. All ITVs are free to air. A quick Google and you can tune them all in in seconds

Only sattelite viewers can do this. Not Saorview or Virgin Media customers.

Okay can we start the competition to guess how much of the half time TV devotes to ads. I'm guessing 14/15 minutes.

England are relentless without the ball. How long can they keep that going?

How long will Keith Andrews be able to keep shouting?

I hope TV3 have someone to step in on 70 mins.

More of a Joe Harte tradition than an England keeper tradition from what I remember.
Nah, I remember Seaman making a blunder against Brazil in 2002, and then there was the infamous Rob Green cock-up against the US in 2010. I have a feeling Paul Robinson had one as well, but I can't remember exactly.

Edit: Yeah, Robinson was where he missed a back pass, and it rolled past him and in.

    Rooney should be on corners.

Who's idea is it for Kane to take corners?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,690 ✭✭✭✭Skylinehead

Well Seaman v Brasil Green v USA Robinson v Croatia etc etc says otherwise!

Scott Carson as well... something about those Croats.

    Yes really

Forward passing into the front three has been excellent

And his workrate in defence also
    Tracking back when needed

    Agree.

On a separate note, he's not playing as well as you'd expect. Disappointed he lacked pace on the end of the ball there. On another day he'd have beaten him.

To be fair to Rooney, he's playing very well in midfield.

Enjoying this English performance, truth be told. Look a solid, cohesive team. They should be a goal or two up, to be honest.

Kane on corners is my only real complaint for them so far! Baffling, that is.

    No.

Wayne Rooney is not allowed to be a good footballer, no matter how many times he's run the show from midfield since his return from injury.

Yeah I did remember that one alright, but I dont remember it being a theme in the same way as them missing penalties would be.

Russia in the final third. Slow it up, play it back, lose possession.

    Ugh.

I feel dirty for saying this but I'm impressed by how England are playing! They're v likely to **** this up still or get hit by a sucker punch but they're playing much better than I expected from them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,286 ✭✭✭ankles

Sterling showing again what a colossal waste of money he was. The man has no football brain whatsoever

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,349 ✭✭✭Phibsboro

Rooney and Walker in great form, Sterling is ineffectual and needs to come off. Something wrong with Kane? He should have beaten his man on that through ball but seemed to pull up just at the last minute. Bar a few goals, this is a strong England performance.

Russia dont have a stitch, england should be winning, anyways best be off, have an exam monday and need to study!

If it's anything like the Rugby World Cup then yes it'll be that long. They have to recoup the costs as they spent all their budget on these showpieces. The rest of the time they've to survive on beans on toast and constant repeats of programmes like Tipping Point and Cowboy Builders.

    Get your stopwatches ready.

If no goal comes early in the 2nd half I'd take Kane off, move Rooney up top and being on Wilshere

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,625 ✭✭✭✭Johner

Rooney is running the show. Kane has been bad.

Should have been a yellow there for Sterling.

We're not that bad, actually. Some of our "fans" are pondlife, and our lovely tabloids and TV pundits tend to lose the run of themselves at every tournament. But most of us "normal" English fans aren't that bad; honest!
    :)

Rooney is probably England's best player this evening tbh.

Whether he's a good option in midfield against better teams is a different story

    KEITH ANDREWS

Rooneys controlling midfield, be mad to move him. Rashford or Vardy in a straight swap would be ideal.

As good as England have been, Russia have been terrible. Don't look up for this at all.

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test
