Russia are terrible.... England much the better side but still not great.... when they get the ball wide they struggle.. Sterling, Lallana and both full backs are pretty poor...

It's a simple game, you pt the ball in the net, anything else doesn't matter...ITV saying England on top, and Russia on the ropes.
On top should mean ahead, not being better with it being 0-0.

Glad I'm not the only one whose head is wrecked by the co-commentator. I think I might watch the second half on mute. Wish I had UK TV channels.

England have played well but they need a bit of composure in the final third.

Rooney has been the best player on the pitch. Lallana, Rose and Walker doing well going forward. It just hasn't happened for Kane so far, I'd be getting Vardy on 10 minutes into the second half.

Russia the worst side we've seen yet. Somewhat understandable enough given all the players they are missing but they seem frozen and happy to play for the draw. Wales will get them up on this showing also.

This isn't just a once-off for Rooney though, any time he's played in midfield since returning from injury he's run the show.

Honestly wish people could just swallow their pride and admit that he is an option there (not directed at you, specifically). It's no surprise that it appears to only be the Man United fans who aren't surprised by this.

With Russian defence playing such a high line, Vardy has to be an option now, or Sturridge, in fact Rashford too. All three could really exploit it.

they dont need to! Second half will be calmer, and bring on Vardy for penetration. I think thats what Woy is thinking, push hard at first, and still have that trick to pull out come 60 minutes if/when legs start to tire somewhat.

Rooney's been good, but he's had zero pressure on him.

Kane has been unusually wasteful, and Alli quite poor too. Sterling is frustrating. Lallana is easily England's pick so far, pity he can't shoot.

They need a goal because there's a mistake in Cahill at the back.

They just picked out rooney for great tracking back but failed to say to Russian players ran past him and a terrible pull back meant it went straight to him. If we are praising Centre midfielders for basic tracking back we are all ****ed
