Played Pierce Purcell qualifiers in Naas today. On the 2nd, I found oppositions ball in long knee high grass closer to 9th than 2nd with trees in way. Left their ball to set up shot on our own ball. Opposition chipped backed on to fairway surprisingly well from said lie.

Thought no more of it until in Clubhouse afterwards when players coming up 9th spoke to us and said players flattened grass all round ball and then placed it on top. The perfect chip back makes sense now.

Any reprecussions for that? It wasn't match play so no odds with us but can their club lose out?

Was his team one of the 4 qualifying teams below, if so it should be reported, but you would need to know the contact details for the player who saw it happening.

Semi-finals: Citywest Resort Golf Club vs The K Club @ 8:00; Newlands vs Naas @ 8:40

Even if he was not playing for one of these teams it would be worth advising the GUI or even his club so they know what kind of individual they are dealing with.
