Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

That NI can be so solid looking at the back, while the Republic has not, up to the last year or two is bewildering. Michael O'Neill has done a top job there. We'd be 1-0 nil down by now if we gave Poland that amount of ball.

Would love to see Lewandowski come up against Fellaini.

He might actually know a thing or two about a sore head then.

I normally like Adidas stuff but that jersey is not great. I really like the Umbro kits this year, especially the white one.

Umbro's jersey feel so cheap and they have the gall to charge €70 for one.

The collar on the home jersey is ridiculous.

When Adidas did our jersey it was great!!!

Any chance of us ever ditching Umbro?

Some of the NI players look like stickmen compared to the Polish.

We had adidas up to the 1994 WC... That '94 jersey was nice.... it's been Umbro since then and barring the odd exception they've been horrible. Especially with the 3 / Eircom logo.

Nothing political but its odd Scotland and Wales have their own anthem whilst North haven't adapted one yet? Any reason?

Scotland and Wales are a country Northern Ireland is not, same way Wales and Scotland have there own flag but Northern Ireland's is the Union Jack

Usually plays as a holding midfielder. I'm struggling to see what formation NI are playing in general. Seems to be working well for them

On the right wing in a 4-5-1.

Good save by the keeper. Should have been cleared though. Need to hold out until half time.

    Really poor defending there.

Not sure what point you're making. I was disputing the claim that we haven't looked solid at the back over the past two years which is not true.

Full time cant come soon enough for them. They are going to be dominated worse second half.

I know. Point is that given their limited midfield and forward line, their defence doesn't embarass them, and keeps them in it. If the Republic had that organisation of limited defensive players we wouldn't have suffered so many embarrasing defensive performances up to the most recent campaign. Plus we conceded 3 against Poland in 2 games, with far better outlets for the defence.

Basically 2/3 of their defenders should walk into the ROI team.

    game needs a Polish goal.

The refs seems happy to let players feign injury and get up slightly embarrassed as play continues.

He means the fans. Typically the republicans did not affiliate themselves with the "foreign game" as part of their disdain towards English rule.

There WERE elements in Irish Republican circles who actively discouraged football and rugby as imports of their British oppressors; they prefered Gaelic sports. For that reason there WAS limited interest for some people in football and hence the Northern Ireland team

Better off not rising to their bait. They are just here to try to stir up trouble. They have no interest in the football at all.

I wouldn't have thought Michael O'Neill or Conor McLoughlin would be the biggest loyalists either.

Either way, it looks like a lot of their players aren't that bothered about it. Heck Kyle Lafferty got married in a Catholic ceremony while he was at Rangers. I sometimes think we want or need to hear about divisions and this fellow or that is a roaring Republican. The fact is times have changed, we see sports stars like Joey Dunlop, Carl Frampton (who had friends killed by the IRA), Rory McIlroy etc. and they just don't seem that bothered by the need to identify with one side or the other.

They are a very mature side. Can't see them panicking. They'd just continue to play their game with the hope of getting the goals they'd need, I think. An NI goal would be great for the game and something special for NI, of course.

That was a very poor half of football.
Hope our game tomorrow is better.
    This resembles a school-yard game.
