Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

What the **** was Whelen thinking?

    That's disappointing.

    2 points dropped really.

    Fell asleep after the goal.

Pity. Will really struggle to qualify i'd say.

Just a pity about the 10 minutes after we scored.
We just lacked concentration, composure and leadership to just settle down the game

Feck it - a missed chance. But we played well and can take points from the next two matches

Happy because we played very well in the first half. Upset because we should have won that. Onward and upward.

  • ****ing o Neil taking hoolahan off

Fair result, we were better in the first half and the Swedes in the second half.

    Two nice goals from Ireland.

Lack of fitness cost us 2 points there, half our team looked dead after 60 minutes.

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 11,443 Mod ✭✭✭✭Hammer Archer

We score and the Swedes don't even manage a shot on target. And we only draw. Have to feel that's 2 points dropped.

one point isnt gonna be enough to get out of the group.

Big opportunity lost. Need a win from somewhere. Might get a point off Italy but hard to see us getting anything from Belgium.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,179 ✭✭✭✭sligeach

Disappointed we were the better team. Why do we always drop off when we take the lead?

Shame we couldn't get the win but I think Sweden deserved something from the game. We retreated after we scored.

Which Irish player will be first to run to get Zlatan's shirt.

Not one Irish player has gone near him.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,306 ✭✭✭sonic85

50 to 55 good minutes but after that it was pretty much a disaster. Better teams will exploit our weaknesses unless we can improve

Well that was the least hurried I've ever seen a team chasing the win try to close out a game. Seriously, doubt it would have come to much but WTF happened with that throw in at the end? Seemed like a few players jogged backwards past the ball on their way to taking a defensive position!?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,398 ✭✭✭✭Ghost Train

Started kicking ball away after we took the lead, pity not take more from match

I never want to see Robbie Keane in an Ireland jersey again. Unacceptable it would be like England taking Gerrard to the euros his legs are completely shot.

What the hell was Whelan at kicking that ball out of play right at the end, stupid from him denied us one last chance to get the winner.

Hoolahan was excellent in the second half.

If we can show the determination Robbie Keane showed on his face near the end we might have a chance of getting through.

Sickening not to get the win we eased up too much after the goal.

    Coleman has been poor today.

Coleman has been poor all season. Hope its just a blip and he comes good again.

Yeah that was fair annoying. Sick of the defeatist attitude this team exhibits at times, a point is a fine result but the Swedes were there for the taking. We were the better team for the vast majority of the game, we were only the lesser team when we went ahead.

We look organised, Brady Wes and Hendrick looked really good. Bodes well for the Italian game. Disappointing not to get all 3 but onwards and upwards

Feels like it. Lucky to get 1 in the end. Sweden were poor until we scored.

Feck it. Already better than Euro 2012. You don't deserve a win if you score and go immediately on the backfoot.

Hoolahan, Brady, Hendrick were all excellent tonight. Need to win one of the next two imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,930 ✭✭✭PeterTheEighth

Robbie went over to Zlatan and said "Ahhhh, probably the last time, eh?" and Zlatan said "Who the f**k are you?"

I agree with Eamonn, McCarthy was a passenger but Whelan put in a fair shift.

I reckon we'll take a point off Belgium no problem. They're incredibly overrated. It's whether we can get something off Italy that will determine if we go through. Would 3 draws be enough?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 713 ✭✭✭Edward Hopper

Good game, enjoyed that as a neutral. Still a decent chance to qualify.

Robbie went over to Zlatan and said "Ahhhh, probably the last time, eh?" and Zlatan said "Who the f**k are you?"

He's a guy who's scored more international goals than any other player at this tournament

We should have won that game not draw but a draw is still better than losing. They need to play like they played from the beginning of that game for the next match but then keep doing it and to not sit back when they score a goal.

    Live long and Prosper

    Peace and long life.

Dunphy going on about McCarthy but not mentioning his precious Coleman who had a very poor game.

Mcarthy has never looked interested when playing for Ireland.
