I'm a big fan of how they have done doors in this , it's little things like that that add to an experience.

I love how this is nothing like the previous games and at the same time so much like the first 1. Great house design, puzzles, keys, such a nostalgic throwback to resi 1 but in a brand new way. I've spent all my time so far on the edge of the couch. Once I realised I wasn't very comfy so I sat back but lurched forward again at some knocking noise. Game does not allow for a comfy gaming session.

Finished it just there in 10 hours. Very enjoyable. Looking forward to some DLC now.

    Played for about 2 hrs.
Finally resident evil did something decent.
Havent been on the edge as much since Nemesis in RE3 and RE games before that.

    4/5/6 were absolute horse manure.

I need to have a arse around with settings.
Firstly it triggers a HDR mode on my TV as soon as I go into the game.
Game is set to play in 4K, but when I check info on my TV. It shows it as 1080p.

Also seems to be a bug with graphical settings, anytime I change a setting, it goes into stutter mode. I exit game and come back in, its fine.

But other than that, gameplay is mostly pretty smooth.

I will admit 6 is a guilt pleasure of mine

Off Topic but Resi Zero wasn't bad, I mean it didn't set the world alight but it was OK, 1st proper title in the series to have 2 characters who could engage in combat together (as opposed to escorting like Ashley, or just having 2 playable characters in a game where you are 90% solo)

Question about the intro section of the game. Anyone else think it was weird that you
find your missing wife after 3 years and no hug/embrace, no reunion moment? Felt like I had just rescued a random npc. Also, is Ethan wearing a wedding ring? Can't remember seeing it when he's hands appear on screen and thought it would be a reminder of the mission you started.

I'm playing through it at the moment. The micromanaging is excessive. Even more so than when you used Item boxes which is probably the most annoying thing.
But it's still a good experience, faithful atmosphere for sure.

Yeah, I consider that and Code Veronica pretty decent entries but they often get forgotten in place of Resi 1-6

Just realised I have never really finished revelations either

Really? I never once was stuck without some sort of ammo or whatever during my playthrough. And i definitely wasn't running past enemies if i didn't have to engage them.

Girlfriend not wife. After 3 years I think we can forgive him for getting over her :pac:

What I mean was carrying quest items and having to constantly drop them / pick them up in rooms.
I'm playing on Normal and am nearly at the facility and I still only have 6 item slots per character (2 are taken automatically for larger weapons like the Shotgun / GL).
I have probably spent about 3 game-play hours just standing in a room picking up and dropping items.

But in the video at the start she says "can't wait to see my husband".

What point are you at exactly ?

I've found at least 2 backpack upgrades , maybe worth a google for their locations, 6 slots is far to few the further into the game you get. I've got those by the time I got to the area featured in the second tape. Or the 2nd boss characters area.

    So she does. Huh.

Ah f*** her anyway. He mustn't have liked her all that much. In a way it was a blessing; they didn't have to live out a long loveless sham marriage :pac:

2.5 million copies have been shipped so far according to Capcom, of course that does not equate sales, it is actually out of stock now in a few places, also they said the demo was downloaded 7.1 million times.

Let that be a lesson to Capcom, people always wanted survival horror unlike their executives thinking they want Call OF Evil 6

Got my copy in the post. Will be playing it tonight hopefully!

Sure even Amazon sold out of PS4 copies for 2 days. They just got them back in today.

Not defending Resident Evil 6 (though I liked it) but it's one of Capcom's best selling games ever. I think it sold something like 7m copies.

The direction shift with Resident Evil 7 was as much to do with poor critical and fan reception to a flagship series more so than just sales.

Just finished my first run on normal. Clocked in at over 12 hours.

Over all I'd say I am very happy with it as a game. The scares wear off pretty early once you figure out how stuff works and are more concerned with conserving ammo and health supplies, I played on normal an even then it wasn't a problem the game normally throws stuff at you for impending unavoidable fights which is something a lot of games like this suffer from in that it telegraphs those fights.

I got ending #2 according to the achievement.
a rather young looking Chris Redfield picks you up in a chopper
    I opted to
give the antidote to zoe previously instead of mia
so I suspect thats what determines the endings.

EDIT: The free Not a Hero dlc mentioned at the end after the credits has a picture of what I mentioned in spoilers above so playing as that person from the looks of it????

RE 4/5/6 was probably more generally consumer friendly.

RE7 feels a lot like Silent Hill in terms of tension levels.

We all know what happened to Silent Hill.

I'm still finding it quite difficult to be honest but overall I've only gotten about 2.5 hours of gametime in so will hopefully improve.

Love the atmosphere and the general vibe, I'm just bad at the game so far!

How does it play as an FPS?
