Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Ireland to win by how much tomorrow then??

    0-0 written all over it.

Starting Giudetti and Zlatan suggests the Swedes know exactly what is on the line here, and they might really throw the kitchen sink at it later on. We could be looking at another really decisive late goal, but for who…

Italy played much deeper inviting Belgium on. Belgium have pace in their team Sweden don't nor do Italy with both teams playing high the game is VERY congested.

    How are they playing lads?

Whats the best result for us? 1-1 or a loss for Sweden?

Loss for Sweden I would have thought, draw not great

Team that doesn't need to win playing a side who can't afford to lose. Only worse ingredient would be the opportunity to play for penalties, how the knockouts usually work out.

No he is making a lot of errors in his waffle. Plus incredibly negative.

Having said that, it's a brutal game.

"You can imagine that the nation will be watching Ireland... in the afternoon... On a Saturday in June"

An actual quote from the first half. You need Jimmy Magee for the unrivalled mental comments.

The way the results are going in other groups it will take more than another draw to get Ireland through. Will need a win from somewhere or maybe two more draws.

Can't see Italy getting a goal here. A Sweden goal wouldn't shock me.

    Ibrahimovic doesn't look bothered.

Or maybe he's just been marked out of it?

Some miss there (even if he was offside!)

He also said McAuley's goal for Norn Iron was one of THE great headed goals.

And a 31-year-old is incredibly fit for his age. 31 like, hardly old.

But overall, the general negative vibe is the worst thing.

Alkin isn’t great but he’s better than Canning

De Rossi really is a throw back to proper hard man, amazing player in the ilk of Totti doesnt get attention he deserves as he plays for Roma
Liam Brady calling Candreva one of the new guys making me laugh again, how can a 29 year old who made his debut in 2009 who played for Italy in two tournaments be a new guy on the block, that these clowns get paid to do this job is beyond a joke.
    Jobs for the boys attitude

Canning is forever trying to shoe horn the GAA into everything. Ridiculous.

Reminds me of the late RTE news guy who, even if Ireland had just beat Brazil 4-0 in the World Cup final, would still start with news of today's horse racing.

    Damn!! That was the chance.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,784 ✭✭✭KungPao

Am I right in saying Sweden haven't had a shot on target in 2 games?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,818 ✭✭✭Bateman

Surely Sweden must be really going for it now?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 68,317 ✭✭✭✭seamus

Who do we want to win?
    Italy, realstically.

If Sweden draw here, it means that everyone is chasing a win in the last match to scrap it out for the top 2 spots. In other words, Italy will hit us hard.

If Sweden lose, it means Italy have qualified and may go easier on us next Wednesday.

In real terms though, in order to be sure of getting through we basically have to beat Belgium and draw with Italy.

Can't believe Conte hasn't brought El Sharawaay or Insigne on at this point. Useless subs.
