Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I think it'll be Juve vs. Atletico in the final if the draw allows it.

Fair play to the Barca fans. Madrid fans would be booing a long time ago.

Expect to hear a lot of moaning from Barca players and fans after this, about bad refs and getting no decisions, but simple fact is they weren't good enough over 2 legs to win.

    Juve outclassed them.

They can moan it as you said, they were destroyed in the first leg and Juventus have been confortable tonight vy and large.

You cant keep over turning huge losses in the 2nd leg.

    I'd say Real will be.

Probably in the bookies, but I think Juve would do them this year.

Ya, i think with that defence and how the team press for each other and close space theyre the team with the best overall balance left in it.

Plus I want to see Buffon winning it.

Barca not so special any more.

Alves must be giggling like mad.

Excellent from Juventus. Strong favourites to win it out this year.

You're probably half joking, but the Juvé defensive stuff is exactly what Leicester try to do.

You plug all gaps in the middle, make the opposition go wide, and your giant CBs head away the inevitable cross.

    Rinse repeat.

Barca had zero answers to it. Wait...no...their answer was to put their giant CB up front from minute 46 in order to try compete.

    Completely ran out of ideas.

The times they are changing and changes, real changes, must come to Barcelona in the summer. This tie more than any other shows that. It's Rijkaard 2008, it's a semi final defeat to Man Utd without scoring, it's an incredibly poor league campaign. Laporta appointed the totally untested Guardiola and the rest is history. Here we are again, what does Bartomeu do? Does he play it safe, or does he take a risk and give this club what it desperately needs?

By the way, I love Neymar and I love how much Neymar loves Barça. Put him in the right situation, football will be his.

Can Eamon and Richie stop calling Juventus "Jewventis"?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,051 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Agree Neymar has the talent, but seems to be too wasteful at times.
Needs to play the game smarter.

I suppose after Messi he will be their next main man.

Yep. Ignominous end for Enrique really. Barca have gone stale and the magic is gone. Lot of petulant, pampered stars there now. Don't have the right energy or attitude anymore.

They are saying 'end of an era' on the RTE panel last week. That's old hat.

    Rakitic is suddenly bad???
    I'll take him.
If they wanted to replace Xavi there were 2 players who probably could have his passing ability but are as old. Xabi Alonso & Pirlo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 53,262 ✭✭✭✭GavRedKing

La Mesia's quality has dried up and they dont have the money to buy ready made replacements or superstars.

This Barcelona side is going to go through a serious transisation over the next 2 years, Real should hoover up 2 or 3 titles in the next few years too.

Not something I say too often, not something you feel you can say very often.

But, fair play to the Barcelona fans there toward the end.

Barca may have done it with a clinical finisher, blazed so many chances over.

Some funny comments over on RTE, Dunphy saying Messi needs all timers around him to be a real star and Liam Brady saying a replacement for Xavi doesn't exist, but they still need to sign him (somehow)!

I generally try to avoid RTE punditry because it's woeful and haven't watched it in a few years... my god Liam Brady has aged!

No matter which anyone prefers (if either at all), there is no denying that as a general overall fanbase they put their rivals in Madrid to utter shame.

He does exist and his name is Marco Verratti, not that Barca could afford him. Brady knows fcuk all about football outside of the PL.

The youth might still be there but none of them are getting a chance. Barca have fallen back into the same pot as the others which is buying in the talent instead of letting it develop.

Look at your own club, they have had a lot of good young players come through but never get a chance. De Bruyne is the clear example of a great one they let get away. At the moment they have a young man by the name of Nathan Ake who should be starting but isn't getting a chance at all. He'll be off soon if he doesn't get his opportunity.
