Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

City certainly looked vulnerable under Celtic's constant pressing high energy approach. They only really gained some control when Celtic ran out of legs a bit in the last 20 minutes.

The decision from Rodgers to play rodgball was critical to Celtic success. Dembelel and brown pirouette at the top of the head of the tripple edge double pivot was pivotal to Celtic success.

I'm happy City held on there that point could be crucial in getting them to the champions league.

I also thought It was a class act by Rodgers to congratulate the Barcelona players on a steely performance

    They were playing Man City....

I agree, it is incredible that at this early stage in his reign Pep already has this City team playing like Barça and Bayern.

City once again showing they're their own toughest opponents. Some braindead moments from the defence. Credit to Celtic though, trojan performance. Atmosphere seemed unbelievable.

How the hell did Peter Collins get to go to Glasgow??

Barcelona are going pretty bad in la liga..by their standards

Bayern have won 2 games out of 11 away in the champions league.

    Yup CITY about the same

I'll understand why people get triggered by a certain poster on an online forum? Jesus you must have got slapped silly with the miserable life stick.

Paco Alcacer plays for Barcelona? People say he is one of the best Spanish forwards yet he can hardly get a game at Barcelona. And Spain apparently have the most talented homegrown players in the world? This guy probably cannot lace Anthony Martial's boots.

why wouldnt you have just wrote that in English. I translated it easily but I dont see any logic in writing is spanish on an english speaking forum

not a city fan by any means! But Just listening to the highlights of the goals again and the reaction by George Hamilton (who I love, national treasure, dont get me wrong!) was like chalk and cheese!
I said it after the first 2 goals in the game but listening now the other 2 city goals just brought about a toned down despondent "danger here" reaction by Hamilton!

ps, I think he reflected everyone, bar City and Rangers fans type of reactions to the City goals. It was like there was an inevitability to them!

There's an obvious connection with Celtic FC and Ireland as well over and above the Irish soccer fans connection with clubs in England or outside Ireland in general. It doesn't always get official recognition with RTE but on the ground with football supporters in Ireland and in Parkhead itself that connection is clear. Along with being the underdog on the night Hamilton's commentary rightly reflects that connection.

    I understand.

Im just commenting on over despondent he was when city goals went in. I am well aware of Ireland's Celtic connection

Think I'll watch Lyon vs Juventus, although Sporting vs Dortmund is tempting and could be very good.

Buffon just saved a penalty from Lacazette. Still 0-0.

Lovely 2nd goal for Dortmund. Certainly enjoying Europe more than the bundesliga with the packed defences against them.

Edit: wow. No goal. Very close.

Thought that was over the line in real time for Bayer.

Goal line technology proves it wasn't over the line by about an inch. Bayer really should have scored though

Lemina sent off for Juventus. I wonder can Lyon capitalise on this.

Sky have the rights just not that good at it, and for the Sporting goal does the ball not have to do a full rotation before a 2nd player can touch it if i remember from that Arsenal pen they tried to do a few years ago

Buffon will go on forever at this rate another great save.

Juv against the run of play and down to 10 score to go 1 up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Cuadrado scores for Juventus from a tight angle. Can't believe Lyon have conceded.

    Poor keeping from Lopes imo.

Another sitter missed by Bayer. Have dominated the second half without getting a goal.

Kasper Schmeichel just pulled off an outstanding save!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

Full-Time and Lyon have lost 1-0 to Juventus. Buffon was fantastic. Lacazette's confidence seemed to go when his penalty was saved. Despite going a man down Juventus never looked too troubled. This will be a real hammer blow to Lyon's qualifying hopes.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,120 ✭✭✭justshane

I really enjoyed the Lyon - Juve game. Unreal defending by Juve when they went a man down. If you can get a chance to watch the highlights do, Buffon was at his very best asgain. Stunning finish for the goal also.

Barcelona XI: Ter Stegen - Mascherano, Pique, Umtiti, Alba - Busquets, Iniesta, Rakitic - Messi, Neymar, Suarez

Man City: Bravo, Zabaleta, Otamendi, Stones, Kolarov, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Silva, Sterling, Nolito, De Bruyne

Bizarre that Aguero has been left on the bench.

City are surprisingly short in the forward positions, numbers wise.

    3-1 barca.

Aguero picked up an injury on international duty was shocked he played last Saturday. Presumably that and his performance level on Saturday were a factor.

Rte saying Barca are struggling. They played excellently against Atletico and their domestic game losses came with a heavily rotated squad. Can't really suggest they're struggling.

    Barca bought Umtiti?

Doesn't strike me as barca type centre back.
