Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Isco looks like Jamie Redknapps baby bro.

Juanfran has been a huge loss for Atleti over the two legs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,050 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

    Atleti a spent force.
Real could win this tie on the night

Modric really is a class act for Real. He's not being hockeyed out of it at all for the size of him.
Really wish he was at spurs again soon.

Juanfran one of the key players in this and he didn't play either leg.

    Unreal loss.

Atletico look finished. Pity. They were doing so well.

Also, George Hamilton doing a good job, seems happy to be there. Ray Houghton though....feck sake

    3rd goal killed the game

This second half is like a training session for Real.

Isco is pure class. Unbelievably composed on the ball.

Him and Modric running the game

Really disappointing second half, there's been a notable gulf between the sides over the two legs.

Only 25 too. Just coming into his prime as a footballer.

Only getting a side when Bale is out.
Not fair on him. Far too good to be a bench warmer

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,480 ✭✭✭Chancer3001

I'mo isco is far far better than bale

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,050 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

Madrid certainly look a better side with him in it.

I'd take 100 mill from.utd or city for Bale, play Isco

If Bale is fit for the final Zidane will have a big decision to make.I'd go with Isco myself , Bales explosiveness is a big part of his game and you can't imagine he'll have that back for the final as he'll just be back from injury if he is able to play in the final, and Isco is playing much better than him from what I've seen this season.

    Navas MOTM.

Damn after such a great half, the game was such a let down

    ugh

Weird game. Atleti have actually had the chances to score the 5 they need. Navas having a stormer though.

Navas was brilliant again but they're trying to get rid of him!

They sold Forlan to Man Utd. Jaysus Eamon -_-

He's had a shaky season tbf

The fans were in full support of him during the last saga, they didn't want him to leave, not so sure it would be the same this time around.

Navas has been a good player for Madrid.

But De Gea is a class above. Plus he is more marketable than Navas.

It's ruthless at the top, most players are easily replaced.

Dunphy "Griezmann is a fine player but playing in the Spanish league, which isn't the best in the world, far from it in fact"

    Mickey mouse league allright Eamonn

The dream final. Spain's greatest ever club against Italy's greatest ever club. The greatest gate keeper of a goal ever seen against the greatest destroyer of a goal ever seen. The return of a giant against the greatest dynasty the Champions League will have ever seen.

I will not sleep until June.

Seriously why has Dunphy not been completely destroyed by someone on the RTE panel and every one of his completely idiotic opinions ripped to shreds.I don't watch RTE's coverage anymore and based on what people in this thread are saying he said I'm glad I don't.

I want rte to reboot a question of sport with him as the bumbling host.
"Eamo: Where is Keylor Navas from?"
    "Contestant: Costa Rica."
    "Eamo: close enough its Colombia"
    :p

So let me get this straight.

During the course of this Champions League campaign, Dunphy has said the La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga and the Premier League are not the best in the world.

    So what is....the Gibraltan league?

Time for Eamo to pack it in.

Sure none of the Catalans sing the words of the Spanish Anthem either......

I know you're in the midst of a pretty good run down of Dunphy's preposterous sh1te right now but what got to me tonight was Houghton repeatedly saying AM need two goals when it was 2-1 (2-4)

Are you ****ing joking me like.

There are plenty of pub teams in it to be fair. Since the quality is concentrated in a handful of superclubs, no one league actually stands out. But the Prem is certainly the most competitive.

Good thing Barcelona weren't playing or George would have been mixing up Suarez and Sanchez again.

RTE need a complete reboot of their commentating team.

Have a feeling the English teams are gonna make a bigger splash in Europe next season than they have in years.

Did he use the words "two goals"? Come on! Houghton isn't stupid now. He knew well what they would need to progress. He said it straight after the Isco goal that AM were right back to square one.

    Repeatedly.

I wish this was the first time it's happened in a match with those two. Surely you must have heard at some point Hamilton doing his "Just to clarify... X need three goals now because of the away goals rule." The away goals rule that has applied in these competitions since 1965. As if it's the audience who are idiots.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,014 ✭✭✭✭Corholio

I actually thought Houghton said they would need 5 goals and then George corrected him and said they would need 3, either way he's such a depressing guy to listen to. I don't know if the standard of colour commentators was always low but between him and Owen 'Everything is a superlative' Hargreaves, it makes me yearn for the days during World Cups where RTE only have 1 commentator.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,661 ✭✭✭✭Arghus

I find Houghton and Whelan to be overly negative as co commentators. Nothing is ever good enough, the player should done better, keeper should have saved it etc, etc...

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 4,719 ✭✭✭dundalkfc10

People sit and watch RTE panel, and then rant on every week saying how bad they are.

Here is a tip, Don't watch them! You already watched the game, do you really want to sit and watch pundits who clearly don't know half the players, form they are in etc.... give their opinion on the games?
