Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How spurs are still in this is up there with the mysteries of the cosmos.

    Ridiculous save by Loris.

Monaco should be about 5-1 up Spurs being kept in the game by some outstanding GK

    7-4 :D

If they scrape a late draw here the players/manager will come out and say they showed great character which they obviously didnt. One of my pet hates in football.

Just saw Real and Sporting are level atm, Means Dortmund will top that group, Arsenal will probably draw Real in the last 16

The Monaco keeper doesn't seem great.

    Spurs out as it stands?

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

Dortmunds defending is embarrassing, it's almost certainly going to cost them again this year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,500 ✭✭✭Dick phelan

    Never mind Real scored

Monaco would be a lovely draw for a second placed team.

    Reus hat trick. 8-4!!!!

    Lost both games to Monaco.

Still a good team though.Spurs wrote them off before playing them and look what has happened.

Same could be said for Leicester

Questionable whether a club like Spurs should be allowed to play in Europe. As the commentators said they'll face a play off for an EL spot v CSKA Moscow next, they probably don't even want to win that.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 40,061 ✭✭✭✭Harry Palmr

Spurs thread forum is fumin right now!

Leicester City have 13 points in the CL and 12 in the PL! :D

Dortmund v Warsaw game is the most goaltastic in CL history at 8-4.

They finished 3rd last year. Last I looked that filled all criteria.

I'm delighted they're out.You go in with that sort of arrogance when you have no right to have any arrogance and you deserve to be knocked out of the competition.

Yeah but they don't seem to value the opportunity when they get there.

Probably won't qualify next season by the looks of things thankfully. They'll be no loss to the competition judging by their performance in this campaign.

Don't disagree there. I think the problem lays in the boardroom.

You're forgetting there's a few late season flappers in the top 4 right now.

Expected much better from Spurs in the CL. Even got a very manageable group. Never really turned up.

  • Registered Users Posts: 9,607 ✭✭✭TheCitizen

I think it's ridiculous that Spurs think they're above the Europa League which appears to be the general consensus re their next game v CSKA Moscow. It's not like Spurs ever win anything, even domestically. Joke of a club.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

It's pretty hilarious given how much Sevilla used the Europa league as a platform to grow themselves.

What's the point in Spurs getting a CL spot, if they don't turn up when they do get there? And if they totally disrespect the Europa League, when they never win anything domestically or in Europe anyway? What is the point of Spurs exactly?

A desperately poor campaign from Tottenham in what was arguably the easiest group in the competition. Despite all the hype surrounding him, Pocchettino has a lot to do in order to prove himself as a manager. The hierarchy will not be pleased.

I think Pocchetino is a good manager. He'll do better elsewhere.

With such stiff competition for the top four, they'd be silly to throw away the opportunity of the Europa League.

At very least make bloody sure you win or draw against CSKA, and then you've bought until the new year to see where things stand. if you're outside the top 4 and in trouble, then take the Europa seriously. if things are going hunky dorey in the league, then send out the B team in the Europa. But give yourself the option...a loss to CSKA with anything less than their first team would be extremely short sighted.

Seriously? That group isn't close to being the easiest in the competition.

It was a really poor run by Spurs however. It's a group we should have qualified for, and the two losses at home pretty much summed it up. Too many players not putting in enough of an effort. Tonight was just like the previous Monaco game, where we had the lions share of possession, and they were just better than us in the final 3rd.

We had high hopes for qualifying from groups stages of the CL, so is it really that strange that we don't look forward to the Thursday night football in EL? It's got nothing to do with looking down on the competition.

It was a group filled with championship level teams.

Leicester have been disrespectful to the premier division this year!

The CL teams from the Bundesliga, Ligue 1 and Russia(7th ranked league in Europe) are Championship level are they?

I remember quite a lot of talk in May predicting how Leicester would embarrass the PL in the Champions League. Funny how Spurs are the ones to drop the clanger instead.

Good move by UEFA, btw, to install the league winners as top seeds in each group. It's only right to reward the league winners in this way and it's helped keep the Leicester fairytale going. Hopefully now they can concentrate on their league form and approach the last 16 in March in mid-table security as apposed to a relegation battle.

Rostov 3-2 up to Bayern. Bayern's defence has been shocking especially Boateng.

I've only seen two Bayern games this season but they don't look convincing at all yet.

Carlo usually needs half a season before his stamp becomes evident. (To be fair, most managers do.)

Arsenal XI: Ospina, Jenkinson, Mustafi, Koscielny, Gibbs, Coquelin, Ramsey, Alexis, Ozil, Iwobi, Giroud.

PSG XI: Areola, Meunier, Marquinhos, Thiago Silva, Maxwell, Krychowiak, Verratti, Motta, Lucas, Matuidi, Cavani.

Bit surprised by the inclusion of Krychowiak. He hasn't played a lot of football. That selection would concern me. Also Areola comes in after Trapp had played at the weekend and done well.

Arsenal look quite good offensively but I'm not convinced they can control the midfield (depends how well Krychowiak does); defensively they look suspect to me, especially with Ospina preferred to Cech.

    I think PSG will win.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,578 ✭✭✭✭Turtwig

    Emery loves Krychowiak.

Ospina has played well in the UCL so far.

Hope yee get to catch the goals from besiktas benfica match. Besiktas come from 3 goals down to salvage a draw.

Couple of cracking goals and a rabona cross assist from Queresma for the equaliser.

Great commentators curse from Martin Keown about 30 seconds before the goal where he seemed disappointed about the slow and side to side nature of PSG's play.
