what would you compare the toughest climb here to in the Wicklow area?

Woodstock is 2.8km with an average grade of 9%. Relatively short but hits 14/15% in the early bit out of the village.

    One climb about 3k later 1k x 9%.

I'm preparing myself for the 160kms. Did it last year, enjoyed it. I'd say Woodstock is the hardest, all the others are ok. Kilmanagh could be tricky at the end but doable.

quick question - when is the last day for online entries please?

Didn't see it mentioned on the website...I know the EB entry date is passed now of course, but (long story short) I won't know for certain if I can make the trip down until probably Thursday. Would that be too late to register online?

    thanks,
    Andy

Online registration will be open definitely until Thursday night, and possibly 10-11 am Friday ( will keep it open as late as possible, subject to being able to get entry sheets etc printed for registration Friday evening)

TdeKK is a great spin lads I won't know if I can do it this year until Friday. Did it the last two years and will never forget the rain in 2014.

My tips would be prepare yourself for a long slog from Inistigoe to Mullinavat. There is a sting in the tail in Kilmanagh but it's a relatively short climb.

I've done the event with both an 11-25 and an 11-28 cassette and obviously I'd recommend the latter.

The sportive is definitely in the same league as the W200 albeit shorter.

FIngers crossed I can join the MCC gang on Saturday.

Looking forward to a tough test, thinking I'll take the step up to the 160 this year. Glad to have the Bank holiday for the legs to recover,

Just registered for the 160km!! Did the 100km last year and really enjoyed it. Woodstock hill isn't as bad as I imagined and I've done it 3 times in the past 2 weeks and it's certainly getting easier! Now just have to tag an extra 100km!!

The forecast a few days ago was for some sun on Saturday, but not now. At least there shouldn't be much wind.

    Sorry folks - a bit late getting this up, but summary of main climbs on the day and their strava segments;

    First Coppenagh at km 37
    https://www.strava.com/segments/694276

    Next Woodstock at km 60
    https://www.strava.com/segments/3900835

followed shortly by this which ramps up to over 10% as well
    https://www.strava.com/segments/4423241

    Then lunch
Followed by a 3km climb into Listerlin, no segment
followed shortly by another km at 8% average
    https://www.strava.com/segments/5005587

This will bring you to Mullinavat, where you can turn for home (110-120 route - actually 113.5) along the old Waterford Kilkenny road - no real climbs left, just a few drags.

The hardy soul heading on for the 160 route will encounter the following
    Poulanassy at km 85
    https://www.strava.com/segments/2192499

Templeorum drag - most unwelcome at km 100
    https://www.strava.com/segments/3685549

Kilmoganny at km 117 (and is also followed by a sneaky drag after the descent)
    https://www.strava.com/segments/694513

The Final hurdle is Kilmanagh hill - not nice after 148 km
    https://www.strava.com/segments/694514
It has a few steep ramps within it, but all in the first half of the climb.

Best of luck to one and all

PS for those doing the 70 km route, the main climb on this route is the first one listed above - Coppenagh. The rest is flat / rolling, with a short sharp pinch coming up out of Bennettsbridge near the end.

I see the strava KOM on that climb was set on last year's Tour of Kilkenny.

    Interesting.....

the website says you can register tonight between 7-9pm at the rugby club.

can you also sign-on tonight? Or is that in the morning only.

whats in the goody-bag? Just curious as I intend cycling to the start. If its just bits and bobs that can be carried, then no bother.

    @Buzwaldo

can you confirm times and starting points please

You can both register and sign on either tonight or in the morning.
Re the goody bag - we will be handing these out at the end of the cycle as glanbia, one of our club sponsors, have kindly provided some items which are perishable / refrigerated. (Same as last year) Also have a bidon to remember us by - no mug this year😟

Starting point is kilkenny rugby club on the Waterford road.
9 am for 160&110 (route is common up to about 85km) generally starts punctually, few stragglers can get caught out.
70 km starts at 11, with the family spin starting soon afterwards 11.15 or so.

It has been a bit hit and miss lately. For the An Post Tour of Meath, it gave some light rain for the afternoon - it pissed rain all morning.

Think I remember that lad from last year - bit of a mountain goat alright. Some work to KOM there after 140 odd km.

Double goodie bag for anybody topping it tomorrow🚵ðŸ¿ðŸšµðŸ¿ðŸ˜€ðŸ˜€
