Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yup, all good well wishing and all, and I don't like to be bitter, but if you support anyone else this would be a disaster for your club.

More ammo for that tool in the stands (Delaney) as well to defend their awful running of the league. I can already hear him on the radio.

It'll be funny if the SDCC tell Shams they have to move a 'home' game elsewhere because of a Dundalk EL game.

How much do they stand to make?

Not sure if I'm counting certain prize money that they wouldn't get if they get to the play-offs (I think I have it right), but they'd be guaranteed nearly €6.4M as follows (nearly four times what Rovers got in 2011):

    2nd round appearance - €320k
    3rd round appearance - €420k
    Playoff elimination - €3M
Eliminated before group solidarity payment - €250k
Europa League group stage - €2.4M

Prize money in the groups is €360k per win and €120k per draw. The above Balls.ie article is slightly off. They're using the EL prize money from a few years ago, it was upped last season.

Getting to the CL group stage means no appearance money for the 2nd and 3rd round or the solidarity payment. Instead, you get €2M for winning the playoff and €12M for being in the CL. Prize money in the groups is €1.5M per win and €500k per draw.

Superb stuff by Dundalk, Kenny has to take great credit for this. Gameplan worked well and they fully deserve the win.

It's very choppy this Eir Sport stream, isn't it?

Anyway terrific performance from Dundalk and a deserved win. Best of luck with the draw.

Brilliant from Dundalk. Great for the league

I think people are forgetting that Dundalk were away to Champions League regulars in the middle of their season who were one point away from last season's knockout stages. They've also now got a (albeit old) Champions League winner in their ranks.
Dundalk are a fantastic LOI side but they are lightyears behind BATE. I can't see the game going much differently than today.
What the fcuk do I know?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,777 ✭✭✭highgiant1985

so who can they get in the play off draw?

Stephen O'Donnell, man of the match. Absolutely incredible in both games right in the middle of the pitch. Incredible and congrats. BATE are completely shellshocked.

Choppy because the weather Rain was messing with my Sat Dish.

Superb Win for Dundalk played them off the pitch and some lovely finishes

Only found out Dundalk were playing tonight (I thought it was tomorrow). What an amazing result. Well done Dundalk.

Eir is having problems because of the rain at Tallaght.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,886 ✭✭✭stephenl15

Are they in the EL group stages if they lose the playoff??

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,386 ✭✭✭✭DDC1990

So does that mean 1 more match to Champions League Group Stages, and even a loss means Europa League Group Stages?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,748 ✭✭✭✭Lovely Bloke

so who can they get in the play off draw?

they'd beat Celtic, but it be like two away games.

and halfo jerseys all over Dundalk, such heartbreak

I think playing this game in Dublin was a blessing, the pitch at Oriel Park isn't great.

Incredible result. Dundalk are a credit to the League of Ireland. BATE are a quality team. To beat them 3-0 is an astounding achievement. Buzzing for them.

LOI isn't as bad as some of the detractors will have you believe.

  • Registered Users Posts: 887 ✭✭✭steirishrover

Congrats dundalk.. never looked in doubt.. what a team spirit and hats off to Kenny he has done some job in 3 odd years there.. only about 6-9 months BATE got a 0-0 draw with Roma in group stages.. fair play credit to the country
