Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Does anyone know if Eir Sport are showing the Dundalk game as free view? Had a look on the Sky menu and it generally has a prefix with 'Free view:' but wasn't on it for Thursday

They said before the group games that all Dundalk group games would be freeview.

Chris Shields fit to play as is Stephen O'Donnell so Dundalk look t be at full strength, huge ask but heres hoping for more Irish soccer history

I love the fact that this thread is still active in December.

Dundalk have always responded to a poor performance recently. Lost to Sligo beat Cork. Same against Bate & gave a great performance against Legia away.
I really hope Shields starts tomorow night. Very underated player. I think he now should be starting ahead of O'Donnell who has looked fully fit in months.

Hopefully Dundalk can go ahead of Cork in number of wins in Europe this season tomorrow night ;)

Has an Irish team ever been active in Europe after the winter break?
    Cant imagine that.

Isn't there a HD channel showing it? BT Sport I think.

    1-0 TA pen

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,672 ✭✭✭elefant

    Drat, 1-0.

Dundalk needed to score 1 anyway, so to be optimistic it shouldn't change things too much...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Shocking play by Gartland there caused all that. Big ask to score 2 now

It's been a reoccurring theme from Dundalks european matches that they have shot themselves in the foot, it must be hard to take for the players. Still so refreshing to see an Irish team play such nice football for the most part. Far from over yet but they are going to need a big turnaround in both matches in the group.

edit: 1-1 60 seconds after posting, OG I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,956 ✭✭✭✭Omackeral

    Savage response!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,656 ✭✭✭DJIMI TRARORE

    Horgan

    Sorry OG

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,567 ✭✭✭Irish_rat

Gartland has been caught out a few times now, he might be great in the league but he's certainly a weak link in Europe.

You wouldn't defend a u12 doing that kind of stuff.

Anyway Dundalk look a bit off the pace were used to seeing. The league should have been stretched out.

OG I reckon but he forced it defo.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,672 ✭✭✭elefant

    Such a ballsy team.

They've done Ireland proud no matter what happens.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,495 ✭✭✭✭Mushy

That was a lovely goal, well worked and deserved the bit of luck at the end.

    Great response to conceding

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,370 ✭✭✭✭Oat23

Good lord. I'd have saved that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,120 ✭✭✭justshane

Dundalk need to invest in a keeper, how many mistakes can Rogers make ffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

That's shocking goalkeeping yet again from Rogers.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,121 ✭✭✭amcalester

Poor goalkeeping but he shouldn't have been allowed get the shot away.

Rogers and Gartland. The terrible duo. Kenny will be livid.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,722 ✭✭✭nice_guy80

Wait, didn't they just give him a new contract?

What was Kenny thinking? Seriously, has to be someone better. I've lost count as to how many costly mistake she he's made in big matches.

If Dundalk had a keeper and players weren't afraid to just get rid of the ball once in a while they'd have qualified.

    2-0 to AZ.

    Dundalk are out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,120 ✭✭✭justshane

I'd have Peter Cherie over him any day.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭corny

What a shocking goal to give away. Giving the bal away, allowing Ben haim to run with it, and the shot? Jesus I'd save that.

There's a case to be made for their 2nd keeper Gabriel Sava being better all round.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,133 ✭✭✭Stevecw

Rogers and Sava when he got in have made huge errors in this group. Gartland at the back has cost them at least twice too.
Such a pity as ridiculous mistakes by those have cost them so many points.
I see Rogers got a new contract too recently, makes no sense at all.

I expected Kenny to take a look at our backup keeper after the performance he put in against them at Oriel.

Video also begins with a great combination between Gartland & Rogers that leads to our opener :pac:

Madness giving Rogers a new contract. He's cost us dearly time and time again.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,804 ✭✭✭A Brad Maddox Guy

Gartland scores a lot of important goals so I find it hard to be overly critical, he has caused some awful goals by not clearing the ball when the pass isn't on. But Rogers is a mistake waiting to happen every game, in Europe and the league. I'd be amazed if we don't sign another keeper over the break.

It really is, I think anyone who has watched Dundalk this season can see GK is their weak spot. Is it possible that they will sign a new first choice keeper and keep Rogers as second choice? Maybe they have their eyes on a keeper whos contract is up in the summer and are holding out until then.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,740 ✭✭✭✭MD1990

Anyone who has seen Rodgers knows he isn't good enough.
Poor with ball at feet & under crosses. Spreads panic in the defence. Signed a new 2 year deal but I would have let him go to Rovers.
One of the worst half's I have seen from a GK in a while.

Anybody else see an aesthetic similarity between this Netanya Stadium and Tallaght?

The main stand and the open end to the camera's right hand side. And sure Tallaght is kinda like the Middle East also I suppose.

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,806 ✭✭✭corny

Dundalk are way off the pace of this game. End of season came too soon unfortunately.

If Dundalk get a result here, it will be robbery.
