I'm flying DUB->LHR->SFO tomorrow morning (aye, I'm not very organised).
Where will I have to go through customs - I'm guessing it's stateside?
I can get to Dublin earlier if necessary, but I don't have a lot of time in Heathrow so if I had to go through customs there, it would be an issue..

    You'll go through stateside.

There are no customs/immigration places in the UK for travelling to the US - you'll have to queue in SFO to enter.

You only preclear Customs and Immigration in Ireland, if you are flying direct to the US from Ireland. You aren't. You are going via the UK.
