where to get drop-out inserts for single cross?

My beloved specialised single cross has been missing one of the steel inserts that which used to interpose between the track nuts and the frame.
Figuring they were probably there for a reason, and the unprotected frame is looking not so great, decided to try and source replacement.

Bit of googling suggests specialized don't supply replacements, and I'm a bit all over the places with 3rd party bits.

Any suggestions?

Are they similar to the steel drop out inserts used to move the rear wheel to tension the chain on a standard fixie/single speed??
