Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. I take it its best 3rd place that gets them through in even that they lose.

Russia are making Allen look like Maradona!

Another goal and I'd say the Russians will pack it in altogether.

Clyne doing very well. Definitely think he's a better defender than Walker, and his attacking game came on for Liverpool at the end of the season, and he seems to be looking good going forward again tonight.

Henderson doing brightly, but lacking that extra bit of quality so far. Dier is such a quietly efficient player. Big fan of his. Would never have predicted him starting in midfield for England a year or so ago.

wow, that was brilliant, surely a penalty.

Think he allowed the advantage so couldn't go back.

Allen with a huge run straight through the middle too.

England all talk about topping group. But if Slovakia win England go home.

Not necessarily. Four points will probably be enough. On the other hand, if they win(and Wales stay in front) then four points will definitely be enough for us, if we pull off a minor miracle against Italy. All together now... Ingerland Ingerland Ingerland....":D

Edit - What are the odds on Dunphy comparing us to Wales at half time ? See what can be done ...etc, etc.

Just home and popped on the TV and watched the replay

Should have been Yellow for Bale

    But holy-cow 2-0

    Henderson good.
    Clyne good.
    Lallana good.

I'm not entirely sure what Wilshere offers in this team at all.

If some of them Russians were at Stalingrad we'd all be speaking German now.

    Then I'm confused

They have 4 points at the moment....I believe it's expected that any 3rd placed team on 4 points will find themselves in the top 4 3rd placers, and will continue into the next round.

The LFC contingent playing quite well, esp Clyne who is much better than Walker, Wilshire is the weak link in the middle. Wales must be favourites to win Euro 2016 ;)

England have four points. Surely that would be enough for a strong third place finish?

Switched over to the Wales game. Far more entertaining looking.

Sturridge looking much more confident and assured on the ball than he had been for us over the last wee while. Looks back to his old self...even looks quick again.

    Good God Russia are rotten.

They'll be early hosts to go out next world cup. For such a massive country they have absolutely no youngsters. If only they go prepare for football tournaments as good as their thugs who meticulously prepared for battle credit where due

When you compare their population to Iceland it really puts them into perspective.

Something for the Russian authorities to listen to.

    Lets hope that continues...

Jeez the England managers position really is a poison chalice unless your called Alf Ramsey and the year is 1966. Cant be always the managers fault.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,630 ✭✭✭✭Mr.Nice Guy

This is a nightmare for Russia. They need 3 goals to stay in the tournament and will have to push on, but that will leave them vulnerable at the back, and with 34 year old Berezutski and 36 year old ignashevich at centre-back, Bale is going to tear these guys to shreds.

Lost count the amount of times wilshere has lost the ball.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,444 ✭✭✭✭Skid X

Odd to see football on RTE2, TV3, ITV, ITV Wales, ITV2 and ITV4 at the same time.

ITV3 should show a split screen of the two games, for completeness.

Wales sitting back now & letting Russia come onto them.

Russia hasn't got any real incision though.

I agree. Been excellent so far tonight. Worried that it is still 0-0. Slovakia will have a chance at some stage during the 90 mins.

I'd say Wilshire will be lucky to start the 2nd half with Rooney on the bench, Hamsik is playing more as a defender

Any manager can make a bad decision. Woy seems to do it repeatedly, especially on the big stage.

They really are brilliant. Great to hear fans singing in grounds. Such a rare thing nowadays...

...but wait??? is it possible that most of these fans are not stuffed into bangor or TNS ground at the weekend or have never been at at a LOW match?? Boooooooo-urns - booooooo-urns :P :pac:

There's such a strong narrative around Wilshire - "he doesn't lose the ball", "our most dynamic attacker", "best passer in the country"....is any of it even close to being true? He's a decent player, but to be honest he's awfully slow, and even just on the ball it looks like he can't quite get his legs to do what he wants them to. When there's a bit of chaos around him in the opposition half, he looks a bit lost.

I actually much prefer him in that deep playmaking role Roy has used him in in the past, where he has more time to look up and pick a pass, with the field in front of him.
