    83kg Open Class is gonna be immense; probably the only flight I'll tune in for.

    I love watching Brett Gibbs and John Haack lift and they're so evenly matched.

    Worth watching the 93s to see Rory and Arthur lift too. Few more years and they should start fighting it out for medals.

    Brucey and Andy in the 105s too for some home nation support :)

    Am I right in thinking they're on Sunday afternoon?

    Be great to see them on the world stage!

    The 83kg battle was incredible. For those who missed it make sure you check out the youtube of it at the link posted earlier.

    1st = Haack (USA) with 298 WR / 200 / 315 = 813kg WR total
    2nd = Gibbs (NZ) with 275 / 208 WR / 305
    3rd = HUbbard (GB) with 270 / ~200? / 272.5

    Squat:
    Gibbs seemed to open slightly too heavy on the day (even tho he has recently done 275 3x3 in training). In his head he was probably planning 275/290/300.... but Squat didn't look great on the day. Only got his opener with 275 and then missed ~285 twice.

    Haack totalled hi-bar his Squat and looked effortless.

    Bench:
    Gibbs took the world record with 208kg. Hubbard tried 208.5kg but just failed. Haack took a conservative 200kg to build his total. Looks like he could have had more.

    Deadlift:
    Looks like Gibbs opened conservatively with 285 to at least register total and keep his Bench WR. It all came down to his last Deadlift. He needed 327.5kg to match Haack on total and to win on bodyweight. He got it almost locked out and then lost grip.

    Hubbard, who finished 3rd, was the most entertaining lifter to watch.

    Awesome viewing. If you are interested in powerlifting go watch the full thing back on youtube.

    Was watching it last night, it was great. The last 4 deadlifts especially were great to watch.

    I agree Hubbard was brilliant to watch, he was really psyched up for every lift. His 2nd bench was a very comfortable looking 202.5kg.

    It was also good to see Arthur's frequent cameos behind the commentators. Looking forward to seeing him on the platform today, hopefully all the work he's been putting in comes good.

    Was excellent to watch - here's hoping the 93s and 105s today is as competitive, a few Irish lads to cheer on too should make for fun viewing. Will have the football on in the background :pac:

    Haack is a monster though - he looks like a 105 lifter and his squat was a thing to behold indeed. Gibbs attempt selection probably let him down on the squat and trying to anticipate the press command on his bench wasn't smart - watched it back a couple of times and his subsequent press commands were pretty generously timed compaired to Haack and Hubbard.

    Hubbard will most likely win most choreographed deadlift set-up!

    Does anyone have the results from the 93s? They weren't up on the IPF site.

    I presume Arthur won Best Quads in the end?

    Here's a link to the final form of the live scoreboard. Unfortunately it doesn't show all 3 squats and bench, just the highest.

    Arthur finished 9th. Unfortunately Rory didn't total due to missing his squat.

    And the commentators were really taken with Arthur's quads, commenting at one point that they made up 70% of his bodyweight.

    Krzysztof was crazy, injured his hip squatting which ended up costing him a medal. Still managed to come out and deadlift 360kg with ease. Went for 382.5kg as his 3rd attempt after skipping his 3rd in an effort for bronze, but could only get it up to his knee. Had to be helped off the platform afterwards.

    "What a crock of **** this is.

    The title should read "3 dodgy spots out of thousands of lifts over a full week of lifting".

    Only 3 out of 5 spots on the example video are even bad.

    Scaremongering bull****.

    And yes - 3 lifters could have got hurt, but when you've thousands of lifts over a week of course there'll be ****ing mistakes made."

    Aside from the first one, which wasn't a spotting fail at all imo, the rest were pretty bad, although the 2nd one looks to be just one spotter giving the benefit of the doubt to the lifter for just a second longer than the other.

    How the hell anyone thought it would be a good idea to let a kid spot with 250kg on the bar is beyond me though. That one was the worst incident by far imo.
