Current Accounts Comparison

    Hi!

I'm currently with BOI - current account, have no real issues with them but comparing banks it does seem to be one of the more expensive current accounts.

I'm struggling to see what I get for paying higher day to day banking fees compared to the likes of PTSB or Ulster.

Anyone got any recommends? or insight?

Been with PTSB for a few years now after the fees scandal came to, closed my AIB and Ulster Bank accounts for it. So long as you have 1500 in your account at some stage in the month, even if transfering in savings, there are no fees. Highly recommended.

KBC will give you free banking, via their Extra account, provided you deposit at least 2,500 EUR, per month.

EBS Money Manager is the way to go as long as you don't mind no cheque book available, basic online banking and no mobile app.

They have this new explorer account.
You earn money per transaction, limited to 5 euros at most.
But that's enough to cancel out fees, if you use your card 50 times.

even if you don't make the 50 transactions, their fees are still only €4 per month. which is cheaper than AIB or BOI

    - If you are happy to pay €4 a month when you don't have to -fair enough but EBS Money Manager is a FREE option provided no mobile app etc. is not a problem.
