Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah...really seems like he needs to be in the Whelan position to thrive.

Little snippet of play there where the ball goes back to Randolph...McCarthy runs back to show for it and gets shooed back and Randolph thumps it long.

There's a time and a place bit Jesus the pass was on for a bit of Ireland possession rather than thumping it long for Murphy to not win

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,502 ✭✭✭✭martyos121

If we do manage to pull off the win here, this has to be the team to start in the next round. Big if though of course.

If only we had five hendrix

Hendrei is the plural I think.

I don't think we look like scoring. Long looks a very frustrated figure and I just can't see how we can get a goal here.

If they keep taking pot shots from distance there's no frigging hope.

Can't remember the last time an Ireland side has been so dominant.

If Italy were to nick one now it would be like finding out Brendan O Carroll is your father.

It's getting a bit long ball now....who knows, that might just work.

McCarthy had no interest in that ball.

State of McGeady with the long sleeve shirt

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,458 ✭✭✭✭gandalf

One thing to take from this match is the normal starters in the Italian team don't have a lot to worry about from their replacements. Woeful play from some of the Italians.

Yeah, Ireland are huffing and puffing, but I'm happy that they've at least showed pride and passion.

Should Wes not be coming on to add a bit of composure and craft on the ball. With Murphy now gone we need someone with an eye for a pass to try unlock the defence

  • Registered Users Posts: 371 ✭✭Sean Kinsella

We'd have to; the KO stages are all about better teams who with no interest in simply coasting.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,150 ✭✭✭✭LuckyGent88

We have lost a lot of composure in this second half. Haven't got down the wings at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,930 ✭✭✭PeterTheEighth

Mc Geady --- our saviour :D

No pressure on him at all. Didnt start the game so there's nothing expected of him.. All the Italians will be tiring, and he has 20 minutes to go from zero to hero. What an opportunity.

^Though I'd doubt that's the way he's reasoning it in his stressed head.

Brady and McCarthy have been superb. That is McCarthy''s position, and he's showing it.
