Having been off the road for a while I'm looking for a nice 1.0 shopping trolley type experience and have set my eyes on a Toyota Yaris, this one possibly

Anyone here have experience of one, it's my perception that they have a solid reputation for fuss free ownership. As I'm tall - 6'4", will it do my knees or back in?

Short version, they're a great car, but get a mechanic to give it a look over before you buy.

Keep in mind the car is 14 years old. Not an issue now, but a big one next year when it turns 15, that's the age when insurers decide a car becomes unsafe so they load your premium or refuse cover.

15 years and suddenly its a crock? This country...looking at a 10 year old "Ka" in that light.

Kas actually turn to scrap very quickly, they're not very well protected against rust.
    You're paying 1.3 tax too,

    What's the budget?

    Thinking mans Yaris

Mileage a bit high (well, not bad for 11 years driving actually)
You sometimes get lower mileage 05s for around €2.5k. None about today though.

From my testing of getting quotes it seems to be over 15 years old when the quote jumps (so 16). So currently 2001 is grand, 2000 gets the hike.

    Seems to be a garage/salesman

You should be able to get a newer shape Fiesta 1.25 for 3k too.

    Same car, different name.

Don't be put off by the decals, that's the way they came from new (wheels are standard too, as is the bonnet badge) I'm sure the stickers come off.

It'll be a Waterford sourced car - no way am I shlepping up hill and down dale for a tiny car!

Isn't Wexford beside or near Waterford?

Enniscorthy is almost nearer Dublin than Waterford! Well not really but it takes too long to get there.
