Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all,

so my car is a 1.5 petrol, automatic, mazda 323, and its failing on CO level at low idle. Here are the details:

So I've been reading previous posts on here and have compiled a list of things that seem relevant. I can do all these things myself. If anyone has further suggestions or insight would love to hear them, plz.

change oil, it has a new air filter, check spark plugs

    possible o2 sensor

clean the mass airflow sensor with proper cleaner.

    check vacuum lines around throttle

    clean throttle housing

take off and clean cat in washing machine powder overnight to unclog it

not sure if this is related, but the car is a bit jumpy at speed, it seems undecided what revs it wants to be at, will lose power and then gain it.

Its a 1999 automatic with 70,000 miles on the clock. I reckon it could do with a transmission fluid change as well.

    regards

I'd go with these steps first...change oil, check/change spark plugs.

Is the car burning oil? Any sign of a leak in the exhaust?

if possible get it connected to a scanner and see if any faults are showing up.

    hi,
I have a 1.6 petrol passat 2004 that also failed on emissions any advice would be great here are the readings,

Low idle, co 1.56 no higher than 0.50, HC 165 na
High idle ,co 2.99 no higher than 0.30, HC 175 pass, and Lambda is too low at 0.95 should be between 0.97 and 1.03

Was wondering would it be the lambda sensor or cat
