Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Has anyone had an accident or near accident in an instructors car or school car at all ,
On lesson 4 and had a ding today after what seemed a pretty simple round about and junction ended with us loosing a wheel .

Has anyone else had a near incident or actual accident during a lesson at all .

mortified at doing another lesson next week

loosing a wheel??? wheels dont come off cars that easily, did it just fall off or else it was more then a ding. if a wheel falls off i,d be anting to know when the instructor last had the car serviced, checked, over and a tyre changed on that particular wheel. Id also be asking when he last checked the wheel nuts

If the angle of the impact and speed were right, and not at particularly high speed, wheels come off.

Just to clarify, a "ding" is the sort of thing you hardly notice and maybe €100 fixes.

Pulling the wheel of the car is a proper accident !!

Was it a 'wheel' that came off, or a plastic hub cap??

Wheel we / i came in a little bit too fast for junction that was near flooded with the heavy downpours the other day and lost the front end and when i steered right to correct the wheel caught the kerb on the junction as it was turning leaving the front left practically folded under the wheel well .

Car had to be picked up by a truck

Did the instructor not tell you to slow down?

When I was doing lessons I wouldn't have been doing enough speed to lose control of the car.

Did the instructor not have dual controls?

Seems a bit mad that you were allowed to get into that situation in the first place (on lesson 4!) - the instructor should have had you slowing down approaching the junction.
