Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Excellent penalties well done Poland.

Called it(Poland would win on penalties). Feel sorry for Switzerland, they deserved to win.

has the keeper gone right every time?

Gone to the kickers natural side (across their body), aye. It's the most successful route to take for a keeper.

The BBC can't wait to get away from the game. Joke.

Yeah, something looked a bit weird there.

Why did Rodriguez take the last penalty. He takes them for Wolfsburg and he should be one of the first penalty takers for Switzerland.

Completely daft policy saving one of your best takers till last as it's often too late at that stage.

Polish lads werent long clearing off from that end :D

Bad form from the Poles goading the Swiss fans at the end. Lead by that bellend, Lewandowski.

A horrible team with horrible players. Hope they're hammered in the QFs.

    Was it on purpose though?

Was pretty retarded by them, asking for trouble doing that.

I hope we don't lose like that.

Must want to show the start of the brexit

You could see them cheering directly at the Swiss fans. Of course it was on purpose. Hope they get hammered.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,307 ✭✭✭DarraghF197

Well at least that means one of my favourite teams will not play another one of my favourite teams in the quarter finals! So many chances missed for Switzerland in ET they'll be kicking themselves.

Id say they thought it was the Polish end.

Hold on, do you think that Lewandowski thought that was the Polish supporters when he picked the end for the penalties?

I couldn't believe it when the whole team ran into the Swiss corner to celebrate. The bench ran the whole width of the pitch and never looked at the fans to check. Weird.

Poland were obviously practicing their penalties, every one of them fired into the corner.

Shows that Mick McCarthy quote from 2002, "there's no point practicing penalties because you can't re-create the pressure on the training ground" is a load of bollix.

I was imagining a Polish George Hamilton saying "A Nation Holds It's Breath" as Krychowiak went up to take that last penalty.

haha .Are you for real? Being lead by the detestable Lewandowsk. He was out front with fists in the air, and screaming at them.

He had the right attitude to just Let It Be.

Oh my God.... I dont want to use hyperbole here but what that the

    BEST GOAL EVER

    Absolutely fantastic.

    Up there with Rivaldo's

  • Registered Users Posts: 489 ✭✭R00ster

How could they think it was their own fans? They would have cheered each Swiss peno scored, and the fans behind them would have cheered the polish ones. They knew full well what they were doing.

Poland wear White and Red, Switzerland wear Red and White. Easy to spot the difference! :D

I'm not so sure. There was a shot of Lewandowski talking to the Swissers and he looked like he was doing a kind of apology to them.

It's like Cavan vs Monaghan in the Ulster Championship (White/Blue vs Blue/White :D).

Rivaldo's was better as it was a complete bicycle kick and it capped the greatest hat trick of all time.

Pity for the Swiss that they went out and agree that they played the better football on the day, but I've never warmed to the Swiss side and the inlaws are Polish, so not unhappy with that result at all.

I'm happy for my Polish mates but that behaviour at the end was very nasty.

Lewandowski is a very unlikeable chap and doesnt carry himself well as captain. Feel sorry for the Swiss at the same time they really dominated but you should never let it run to penalties if you're on top

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,664 ✭✭✭dirkmeister

Lewandowski had his hands to his ears when he ran over to the Swiss.

The Swiss fans were throwing so much stuff onto the pitch it was almost like the WCW ring when Hulk Hogan joined the NWO.
